Hi everyone,my mother in law has been on Methotrexate about 10 years.This week she had to have bloods repeated as she had raised monocytes count.Has anyone had this,what was the outcome?xx

Raised monocytes might suggest that her RA is active / not so well controlled at the moment or perhaps she has an infection of some kind. The repeat bloods will let the Dr know if it is just a wee hiccough or not.

Hello Nellie,

Monocytes are cells that clean up damage after any inflammation and damage. The swallow up damaged bits of tissue floating around, dead material and generally clear up the debris. I would not be too concerned about them being raised unless unexplained by this. Good luck.
