Ankylosing Spondylitis?

Hello everyone

I am on MTX for RA diagnosed last year. I have become more unwell recently after a period of feeling better and the hospital has decided to test me for possible Ankylosing Spondylitis. I am scared by this possibility. I don’t want another condition or to find out the RA is in fact AS. It would be good to hear from anyone out there who has this.

Apparently the reason it has come up is from my bloods (combination of results commonly seen with AS apparently) and current symptoms ( hip pain and stiffness waking me and worse for any inactivity or sitting over 10 mins, swollen soles under my feet which makes walking painful. I also had some eye problems with lights and night driving but thought that was found to be nothing. This is alongside my stiff painful swollen fingers/toes/ elbows etc , tiredness, generally feeling very unwell. I have no particular back pain, get generally stiff.

Feeling pretty low about it all and lost in uncertainty. The genetic test takes 1 month to come back. Other ANA tests also being redone.

Sorry you have this shock and doubt, not easy to take in unexpected developments.

I hope someone might have a useful response, and you can get some stress relief too.
