Yes. I started doing a low starch diet 12 years ago having suffered over 20 years of pain in my spine, stomach, bowel etc without diagnosis for AS. Within a few days I went into remission and within 6 weeks the pain stopped completely. It was so successful that I started having cheat days - days when I’d treat myself to a pizza or cake etc. This year I started getting severe pain in my sacroiliac joint, neck and spine again. I realised, without realising that I’d let the low starch diet slip. So last week I cut out all starch again and for the first time in 6 months I am pain free, sleeping through the night and waking only with a tiny amount of stiffness. It’s fantastic. Do stick with it. I am vegetarian so it’s been hard but I eat a lot of omelettes, salads with walnuts and stilton cheese, stuffed mushrooms with spinach and grilled goats cheese and make white sauces with melted goats cheese and milk (cutting out the flour); I also drink the odd glass of red wine and watch chocolate - hence, I don’t suffer on the diet. Good Luck.
