Psoriasis disappeared after losing weight

Lost weight and psoriasis disappeared. I recently lost 30 pounds and my psoriasis disappeared that I have had for decades, no more fatigue in aftrrnoon. Anyone else experience this. I know that adipose tissue generates inflammatory cytokines so perhaps that is why and I am now taking higher effective dose medication on a mg/kg basis after weight loss. Recent research indicates that obese and overweight people are much less likely to sustain remission. If you are having trouble attaining remission and you are significantly overweight you may want to speak to your doctor about starting a weight loss program.

It is a rather dismal fact of life that being overweight has a lot of health implications, and not just making it less likely that you will achieve remission in RA. I was reading recently that some 30% of cancers could be avoided were the population less overweight (not including lung cancer). And that's on top of worse recovery from surgery, being more prone to lung problems etc etc.

I certainly felt better when I managed to loose weight.

But it's easy to say and bloody hard to do. Plus the NHS ability to help people loose weight or increase exercise is very limited. My last GP surgery in England had nothing on offer and just told people to do things like slimming world and join a sports group.

You are right, it is too bad that more funding is not directed at disease prevention. It would be money well spent in the long run.

Every body in the US is getting Bariatric Surgery. My problems started after that surgery. I am overweight again, anemic, low vitamin D, and Vitamin C. I believe it was the catalyst for my RA. Studies are showing that over 50% have all the supplement problems I now have within five years long with the return of diabetes.
