Elbow replacement

Hi had an appointment today with consultant and been told I need an elbow replacement has anyone ever had this done

Hi Tricksy61,

About 7 years ago I was advised that I needed both elbows and both shoulders replacing. At that time I had had both hips and both knees replaced in less than 3 years and I felt I could not face another 4 operations.

Things may have improved in recent years, but the advice I was given by the surgeon was that the elbow and shoulder replacements would help with the pain, but he could not give any assurance that my severely restricted range of movement would be improved by the operations.

In the last 7 years my range of movement has deteriorated, but I have far less pain than I used to have.

Due to dietary changes I have now been in totally drug free remission for about 6 months. A year ago my Doctors considered I needed to be on over a dozen prescribed drugs, including 4 weekly infusions of a biological drug.

For some of us, things sometimes, actually do improve.
