I am 82 and have RA and also Heart By Pass. My CRP a few weeks ago was !.27 now a couple weeks later another lab and doctor says 22.7.How can that be>> Don' understand the figures

Each lab will have slightly different results but they should both give you a range of normal values which you can compare your result with.

If the 2 results are 27 and 23 that's pretty close. If the first result was 127, then that is a puzzle!

Your CRP is an acute inflammation test, meaning it's an indication of how much inflammation you have currently so the lower the result the less inflammation you have, in theory. It's showing your inflammation is slightly less than it was a few weeks ago &, because it's on the decline, your meds may well be helping as it was 27 a few weeks earlier & is now 22.7, not much but it's going in the right direction. It's not unheard of but unlikely if your GP has given you your latest result that it's been tested in a different lab than your local hospital, unless you're away from home?
