Hi Arrey, I have an early stage Ulnar Drift on my right hand...it doesn't look very early to me but apparently it is!! The way I'm going to have mine treated is by an operation to correct the deformity and replace my knuckles. Hope this helps..do you have an Ulnar Drift?
Hi 3LittleBirds2. Thanks for your reply. I do. But faced with two huddles here in my country. 1) Not easy to lay hands on an expert in the domain. 2. Surgery which does not guarantee full recovery is way expensive, or not within reach. Thanks though.
Hi Arrey, yes I feel for you, whilst I may moan about my Rheumatology department I'm lucky to have them and do it appreciate it. I have put my surgery off or rather my consultant has until my RA got under control but it will be soon, the recovery time I believe will be about 3 months and with intensive physio so not great especially when you work but if I get my hand back it will be worth it! Good luck Array I hope you get some solutions 😊
I keep doing the exercises to strengthen the hand muscles to try and keep them straight, but if the joints are getting eroded then it will happen anyway however strong the muscles are.
I think perhaps you are looking for a pot of gold at the end of the rainbow!
If you look at the scientific literature, exercises and splints are recommended initially. Then surgical correction usually with artificial joints.
If you do a search on here you will find some previous questions and answers about ulna drift. But given that financial constraints are going to apply to you locally, you may find it difficult to find a good solution.
