For last week have been waking with blurry vision - hard to read words - and goes after a couple of hours or so. Could this be RD related??

I don't know if you're on hydroxychloroquine but that can affect your eyes. I don't take it anymore but when I did my Consultant arranged 6 monthly eye checks for me. If it is one of your meds it really should be mentioned to your GP or Rheumy.

I am having the same problem my eyes keep trying to refocus it can happen anytime for me I thought I could be rd too

My Sjorgren's causes this, usually when my eyes feel tired, or I've just used my Hypromellose drops.

Eyes can be affected by RA in several ways I believe. Uveitis or RA attacking the eyes themselves or Sicca (dry eyes) as part of secondary Sjogrens, or Hydroxichloraquine as nomoreheels has mentioned. I would get this checked out by an opthamologist or your rheumy as soon as possible to be on the safe side.

I get periods of slightly blurred vision. I'm not sure of what causes it and it's not troublesome enough for me to get concerned about. You should be contacting your GP and/or mentioning it to your rheumatologist.

Similar thing here. Like you I'm not too bothered by it and it does seem to have eased off of late. Recently had an eye test, which was fine, other than I need new specs.

While I was on MTX , My vision changed , my far away vision got better! But, my close up (reading) got worse!, I had to get reading glasses !i couldn't read at all in the morning with out my glasses After stopping the MTX MEDICINE, my vision has gone back to where it was before! Strange!! No more reading glasses needed , but now need my glasses to see far away!! My doctor said it wasn't the medicine causing it to change! But, sure is strange it changed back after stopping taking it!!!

I would also speak to your GP because this could also be a sign of diabetes!

Hi. I have been noticing this for last couple weeks. It seems to be on waking for about hour then clears. I am on sulfasalazine and methro. Put it down to still being half asleep! Will have to mention when next at hospital. X

Hi Jell,

Sorry to hear that you are having problems with your eyes. Certainly we know that people with RA can develop eye problems and likewise some of the RA medications may also have side effects that cause eye problems. However we are not medically trained so I think it is very important that you get checked over by your GP or make an optician appointment as soon as possible so that things can be investigated further for you.

Best wishes

Sally
