Hi all

Please can you tell me if I'm taking two lots of anti biotics do you think it be ok to inject MTX this eve ? I was hoping my rumie nurse would get back to me today after leaving three message during the course of this week. Thank you x x

It would depend what they are as some anti-biotic dont mix with MTX. So i cnt really help hope someone answer who got more knowledge than me . Good luck.

I know at my drs computer flashes red if they go to give you drugs that dont mix so as long as dr knows about mtx id say it would be ok

I would call the gp , they should have an on call doc who can give you advice. Better safe than sorry xx

hope you got through to the gp minxy, I am always told to stop the mtx whilst taking antibiotics.

Hi Minxy,

just to add to what Mads said - when I was on MTX and had a lung infection I had to stop the MTX for a week while I took the course of antibiotics, then went back on MTX again.

My two rheumies always tell me any antibiotics mtx no way. Check with your chemist and see what they say or ring a&e and ask their advice.xxx

Thanks Sylvi I'm not going to bother taking it ,fed up being a pin cushion what with cimzia as well xxxx I ask chemist today xxxx

The mtx will stay in your body so you will be covered for the time your on antibiotics,it also applies to cimzia as well darling.xxx

Thank you Sylvi I did stop the cimzia before op,but then got an infection somewhere else so not been on cimzia for two treatments and missed MTX for two , but no one getting back to me I was just panicking a bit should of asked chemist when I picked the antibiotics up ... Never mind I survive like we all do on here a Sylvi .... Good to hear from you lovely xxxxxx

I was always told to stop Mtx at any sign of infection and before any surgery. Hope this helps

You must get advice on this.. some antibiotic such as trimethroprim are dangerous with mtx
