I take leflunomide and have had no problems with the sun. But then I use factor 50 all the time as I am very faired skinned and am sceptical to sun stroke. Had you used any sun screen? I would speak to the pharmacy that you get your tablets from and see what they say. x

No one has ever told me to cover up or wear sun screen on MTX but lately I've found that I go bright red at the drop of a hat so am going to have to try harder to remember. I did get a sun sensitvity rash when on Sulpha so I think all the DMARDs make us more susceptable probably. It's a balancing act because it doesn't get warm up here too often so I feel I need the vitamin D but like Georje and Scouser I'm extremely fair skinned.

I take sulfasalazine and the pharmacy instructions recommend staying out of the sun or using sun screen while taking it. If I don't use sun screen I burn easily, sometimes within a few minutes. As TildaT stated probably all DMARDs make us more sensitive to burning.

Some people are more affected than others, but generally most of the DMARDs can seem to have the effect of making people slightly more sun sensitive - some worse than others. I think hydroxy is a particularly bad one for it. Definitely use a high factor sunscreen.

I am a sun worshipper but I have a darker type skin and I go brown very quickly. I do not wear sun screen because I want my dose of Vitamine D. I have noticed that I don't feel conformable when staying too long in the sun. May be it is because I'm weary because of taking Leflunomide.

If you have a fair skin, you would be wise to wear sun screens.
