Ah well my husband went to see our GP because he was fed up with finding me gone to the spare bed in the morning and was referred to the oral surgery in our hospital and was fitted for a special rubber brace by this specialist dental surgeon there. It does work well to an extent but isn't perfect - he still snores but just now quite as loudly or constantly! He says he feels he's had a better night's sleep as a result. I think it's all to do with the shape of your mouth, sinuses and body weight - and where the weight sits.

It's not a joking matter Allanah although I know you've become the but of your daughter's joke (with Debbie/ Scouser helping from the sidelines?!!)! - it could be making a really big difference to your quality of life if you have sleep apnea and are waking all the time because of it. XXX

I find a poke in the ribs works quite well on my man x

Allanah can't poke herself though Paula?! And I had to stop poking mine as it was non stop and he was getting really grumpy! He works nights so this just wasn't fair but if it works then great crack on! Tilda x

In reality I only snore gently when I am on steroids. My hubby is really loud though but I just touch his back and he turns on his side and it stops.

My husband had his nose broken, cartilage removed, then nose reset, and still snores loudly, whether or not he is on his side, back or front and yes he does hold his breathe for a good few minutes as well. I have poked, punched, kicked, put him in another room and I can still hear him. The funny thing is if I go and sleep anywhere where hubby is not around I cannot sleep, it's too quiet.

I forgot to add that husband's new brace means he can't speak and looks like Hannibal Lector about to have a good chomp. Not very erotic I have to say?! But then who needs erotic when there amitriptyline? X

My husband has to sleep in the spare room on many nights because of his snoring, but last night I got my own back.Apparently I kept him awake all night with my snoring! I can blame it on the steroids. :)

My husband also snores!! He's been seen by the ENT & had an induced sleep study which showed he snored loudly! He was given antihistamines & a nasal Spray - didn't help! It was suggested that he could have surgery to reshape gis palate but it isn't that effective. A mouth piece was suggested which he bought but he can't wear it as he finds it hard to breathe with it in! I resort to wearing ear plugs or going to the spare room, I'm such a light sleeper :(

I'm also married to a world class snorer & my eldest son is pretty damn good at it too. Don't do anything Allanah ..... it's time we women got our own back! x

But now I shall return to my pillar of the community professional image and give you all a lecture on snoring...Which will be enough to send you all to sleep so we can run tests:-)

First thing to do is determine the cause of the snoring as it varies between the sexes, believe it or not. Pauline.S, please throw away that device your husband bought as they are a) useless and b) potentially dangerous as can be inhaled/swallowed when asleep.

If it is a flabby soft palate (at the back of the mouth) or pharynx snoring, This can be helped by a lower jaw positioner CUSTOM MADE BY A DENTIST!! This pushes the lower jaw forward and opens the airway. If youve done a first aid course you'll know how it works.Operations are sometimes done to cut away the flabby parts but its a last resort to be honest. If its nasel problems, again get reffered to an ENT unit to see if they can relieve it. Nasel sprays can help to clear blocked airways, but get it checked first. There are a number of other factors: diet, weight, diabetes, smoking, sleeping position.

Here endeth the lecture. If you want further independant advice on jaw positioners please message me as I cant put it on an open site for professional reasons, which some of you may know. Hope this helps.

Well what I do is sleep on the side now. I used to get a pillow to my face but because I started doing that my family members stopped complaining about me snoring. Then I go back on my back when I sleep so it's not a really a solution.

Reasons why I snore? I dunno. Seriously, how does knowing why I snore help me out. What I needed was a solution! I didn't want to point fingers and blame someone else. I didn't want to hear excuses. I wanted a solution for my snoring problem.

So if you want a cheap solution surround or entrench your body with pillows when you go to sleep. If it bothers you just pretend you are a vampire and then go to sleep. It should look like you are laying down in a canal of pillows.

I use an anti snoring mouthpiece.

Bought it online, at duo-confort.com.

Only 16,95 so cheap which made me skeptic...but it works a treat!

Both me and hubby are happy.

Good luck!

SlumberNow is works great for me as I could not breath through my nose at night while sleeping. Now I have no problem. The are adjustable by trimming the larger rings.
