Anyone have problems with jaw pain
Yes, just before Christmas! The joint just in front of my right ear seized and I couldn't open my mouth properly to eat or talk. It only lasted a day or so, but I've been left with a grinding noise in that joint when I open my mouth. The Rheumy nurse said it was inflamation of the jaw!

Yes I suffer with severe jaw pain.It makes me very irriatable and especially when people don't know why you are having trouble to speak because any mouth movement is so painful. My recent flare up,I thought I had ear ache but no the GP said it is a secondary condition of RA and it was my Jaw joints. But I know where you are coming from, the dicomfort is unexplainable.

The joint between the jaw and the skull can get inflamed just like any of your other joints. Mine are painful at the moment. The dentist was very considerate when I went for a check up last Friday - he noticed it immediately and did the check in stages so I could rest the jaw in between - but it still hurt more afterwards!
I find that it's best to eat soft foods that don't need too much chewing when it's like this.
Yes, when my RA was not controlled I had a few episodes of jaw pain. I had it for about a week each time and could only have fluids as I could not open my mouth enough to even get a spoon in. Talking was fun too!
Fortunately I have not had any episodes since I went on anti-TNF which has controlled my RA very well.
I know It's horrid when it happens.

Yes, I am having jaw pain, mostly on the right side & mostly at night. I'm a side sleeper & I've had to change sides as I can't lay on my pillow on the right. I mentioned it to my Dr last week & asked about the Fosamax damaging my jaw, but he wasn't worried & didn't even check it.
I did cancel a dentist appt a couple of months ago too, because of having no insurance. I probably should just go anyway & ask her to check me.
Fortunately, I can still chew & eat Ok.

Mine plays up during a flare and I end up on a soup diet.
Hope yours eases soon x
Yes I had this problem just before Christmas. My jaw seemed to slip a bit and was painful. My dentist put me in touch with Dental Consultant and he said the muscles in the right side of my fact were inflamed and solid. I had intensive physio for 5 weeks, and it's gone. Thank goodness.
Hello,
I was at the hospital about this yesterday!
I started a biologic (enbrel) last August and am now in remission but then my Jaw became sore, crunchy and kept sticking in November.
The consultant at the orthadontist clinic carried out some basic tests and is now sending me for an xray to see if the RA is the underlyng cause but the good news is that the trouble started when I went back to work which was a bit stressful, unknown to me I have a tendency to clench my jaw which is more likely to be the cause especially as the RA is under control.
We are both convinced it's stress not RA, could this be the cause of yours?
