Just wondered if anyone on humira stops it whilst on antibiotics, and if so when do you restart Humira. Thanks for any replies Carole

Just started Humira and i believe they class antibiotics as live drug so stopping Humira would be an option, but chatting to consultant best way forward.

I would only stop or start on my rheumatologists instructions. You should notify them, or the rheumatology nurse if anything changes (like an infection that requires antibiotics) and get their advice.

i have had humira for over 2 years now and have never stopped it when on antibiotics. I did stop the azathioprine though... although it was causing other problems so had to be stopped anyway. If you are on another DMARD drug with the humira, you might perhaps stop that one, as they do slow down the antibiotics working - but I personally wouldn't stop the humira as it has been my life-saver drug and I haven't wanted to upset the balance of it!! I've never been told to stop it.

I am on the anti-TNF medication, Cimzia, and was told I should stop it while taking anti-biotics so I would check with your Rheumy nurse.
