Just woke after managing two hours sleep & the pain is screaming at me! From the side of my knee down, I can't move & the cocodamol isn't touching the spot..:(( I just don't know how I'll get myself to work & the kids to school in the morning :(((

So sorry you are in so much pain. If it's any consolation I am considering amputating my right foot with a kitchen knife LOL! I have been clockwatching for painkillers since 6pm. So disapointed as my Doctor prescribed co-codomal 30/500 on Thursday and it seemed to be working but yesterday and today my hands and hip and right foot are killing me! Already on steroid and mtx injections and don't know what else to do...... I hope that you manage to get some sleep x

Morning from Australia ladies. Hope you're both asleep now. I'll have that knife off you next Tess lol. My shoulders, wrists and my left foot/ankle need a good seeing to lol. Sat here with my heat pad trying to distract myself, isn't working :-( so I feel for you. Sending many gentle hugs. Love Janet xxx

It seems we are all in the silly o'clock club this morning with not sleeping. My advice to you all re; not sleeping is try not to worry about it as when you worry it gets worse and i am speaking from experience. So if i come down here at silly o'clock i spend an hour on here and then i will have my snuggle round me and more often than not i will fall asleep again, sometimes better than i would have upstairs. Mine is in my fingers and my shoulder all down my right side has been right from the start.

Ellie i hope my darling that you have managed to go back to sleep. I hope the weather is lovely over there with you Janet. xxxxxx

Thanks for the lovely comments xxx I did manage to get a few hours sleep, but I can't have a third night like that!.. Am going to see if I can get an appointment at the doctors & see if they'll give me stronger pain killers, as I can't walk v well!

I hope everyone else managed to get rest in the end to?....big hugs to you all xxxxxx

Ellie, get some stronger / different pain killers, if too bad you shouldnt be at work!!, in my job with 2 hours sleep I could kill some one literally..I have to get enough sleep to safely do people prescriptions.. hence I am at moment only doing a 3 and a bit hours shift, balance is made up with sick pay( phased return), my old hours/ contract of 27.5hours is a distant memory.

My GP always says NSAIDs are more important when pain is bad as you describe and you can take Ibuprofen, Diclofenac or Naproxen (my favourite) with co-codimol or Tramadol. Its really important to get the inflammation down and pain killers don't do that. Hope things improve for you all soon. I'm okay again now touch wood but last week and the week before were hellish so I know just how you are feeling. Tilda x

Hi Ellie

Hope the doctor can give you something to help with the pain.

I too have had terrible pain in my shoulder for a while and could not sleep for the pain so I started taking Amiytripiline even although I hate the horrible sleepy feeling in the morning. They help me have a decent sleep at night and I need this as I am still working.

When I was in that state three weeks ago I appealed to the rheumy nurse (rather tearfully, not like me at all) and she said "Double your steroids and give me a ring in three days" Sure enough by then it was beginning to come under control. But now I'm in that awful business of coming down off a high dose and feeling down and aching.

My doctor prescribed me Voltorol gel for my shoulder (Shoulder impingement syndrome also RA in it)

Wow the only thing that has lessened the pain so quickly.

Don't know if it was the SIS or RA but it did help.

Has anyone else tried it.

Sadly pain relief has no effect on me :(
