Obviously new to this, but i need tips on giving up, ive tried gum, patches just about everything you can think of. I even did it cold turkey in 2014 for 6 months, but ending up going back to it. Any help or tips appreciated

Really want to kick this disgusting habit

Cheers all

Welcome Andy!

I'm 19 or 20 weeks now - not sure actually.

Like yourself, I've tried so many times in the past and always went back to the fags. It is a really disgusting habit.

What I did different this time was:

-I imagined the quit as a Road that leads to a place, my intention is to get to the place, I will do whatever it takes to get there.

I am not there yet but I am still getting there...I will arrive one day :)

Think how many times does a child fall & get up when they are trying to walk...practice makes perfect.

All those attempts, they didn't happen for no reason, each and everyone of them you learned something about your behavior, that will help you now.

Good Luck and post often, there will always be someone in here to give you a hug.

Stay strong.

Welcome Andy and huge congratulations on making a plan to quit.

Firstly, I would suggest setting a date to start your quit, if you have not already done so. Read up as much as possible on what happens when you quit and all the support on quitting to help and prepare you for your withdrawals, triggers etc...

I quit cold turkey 18 weeks ago and never looked back - I found what got me this far was 100% commitment, focus and determination and I believed in myself that I could do it.

Wishing you success and look forward to seeing you in the Day 1 room soon:)

Hello, from me, a great decision. Which ever method you choose, I say to my self just keep going, ride that roller coaster. You will get there.

Have faith, post and read often it truly helps
