How is a smoke going to help your 13 hours work exhaustion?! A nice cup of hot chocolate or a nice cold beer... That I would agree.

If smoking was so great you wouldn't be here!

Stay strong buddy!

I hear you abt work dude, sometimes I feel like a modern day slave, it's utterly ridiculous the amount of work and mostly the amount of hours I'm currently working.

Well done Gazza on your first milestone of 1 week, that is great! You are rocking this and seem to be so strong, focused and determined, keep going and doing this!:)

Thanks Guys,

well to day is nearing the end of day 9 - just trying to rack up the day and get past the dreaded "Week3" hopefully from there its all down hill, but truth be told I have found the last two or three days rather difficult.

Gazza, I was the same. It was Day 8 of my quit that I found this forum as I was in a state of despair that I couldn't to do it, the cravings were that bad (was on a weeks annual leave from work when I quit). I am so grateful I found this forum and it really got me through Day 8 to Day 12 and things started to get easier then, support is vital at the early stage of our quits and although I got loads from my hubby, family and friends, the support here is amazing as we are all in this together. Keep going & stay strong!

Well done!

I found day 10 to be a huge mark on the quit.

It certainly becomes easier...still not easy though... It takes 21 days to break a habit.

I feel like I need a break from quitting , it is HARD work

in reply to

It is! I hear you!

The thing is....you're not happy as a smoker, so if you give up now...you'll be back to day one in a few months time...and again and again.

If it helps, what kept me sane this time was:

Smoking is not an option!

When I was having cravings - I went to sleep.

When I was having anxiety - went to the natural shop and got some medicine

When I was losing the plot - completely resumed to natural medicines.

Gabba supplements and green tea extract, magnesium powder and kalms.

When I started getting depressed, brain nutrients and so on...anything but I wasn't going to smoke....and I didn't.

Between day 10 and 20 is quiet, nearly boring.

Not half as hard but you will still reach for the fag.

My advice to you is to read, understanding what's coming next will allow you to be prepared and fight it.

Stay strong.xxx

in reply to

Gazza I must add:

May the memories of the first days stay with you forever, as far as you remember it well, you'll never touch a fag again.

Going good man, keep it up. It gets easier.

Keep going mate you've come so far!

Today marks the end of day 11, and I have to admit I have spent a WHOLE day hardly thinking of smoking, I had maybe three cravings MAX but before I could blink they were GONE.

Perfect! Enjoy it...you should recharge your batteries now...you'll be just fine, day 21 is around the corner! Huge mark on the quit.

Happy sailing!

Day 12 and still feeling AWSOME , anyone who is just starting a quit - it DOES get better!!

Great positivity Gazza which is vital in our quits - you are passing the physical stage now, time to start preparing for the mental battle which will begin in a week or so, read up on previous posts from Day 21 so you will know what to expect. You are doing great, keep it up!

I am on day 8. i quit the day i found out i was pregnant (cold turkey). i find myself wanting one at the weirdest times, especially while i'm driving. i even had to stop taking breaks at work because i don't know what to do with my time. it has gotten easier but sometimes i worry ill pick it back up once i'm done breast feeding....

Welcome Alma and congratulations on your pregnancy and quitting.

I know people who gave up during pregnancy and went back on them after it and people who stayed off them. I think you need to be in the frame of mind of this quit that it is for good - just think of all the benefits now you have quit, not smelling of rotten smoke, if you go back on them after the birth of your baby, do you want them to be surrounded by that smell and all the other nasty things associated with smoking and most importantly you want to be in your full bill of health for your baby.

Wishing you every success in your quit for good Xx

Hi Alma... Welcome and well done on your quit..... My wife gave me 3 beautiful strong sons and from the day she heard she was pregnant until 2 hours after normal birth she did not smoke..(with all three),,, It was crazy because for 9 months she hated smoking and I was not allowed to smoke in the house, car etc....and 2 hours after birth she would ask me for a cigarette ????? She had a major heart attack 9 years ago and stopped smoking completely....

Moral of the story ...if you stop now for the pregnancy please continue forever... Stay strong !!
