This is about my third day. I admitted to smoking to my doctor and don't want my rates to go up so I'm trying to quit, the hard way. Cold turkey. Got over the first hurdle of turning down offers from others. Never really felt addicted as a chipper. But buying packs has changed that. Was wandering if anyone uses these posts as evidence of cessation to medical provider? Thoughts on this?
Keeping my rates low.: This is about my third... - No Smoking Day
Keeping my rates low.
Haven't the slightest clue what rates you're on about? And what's a chipper?? I don't really think posting on here proves anything at all, but then again the forum has always been here to help people quit, not to help them give evidence that they've quit. If you want to prove to your doctor that you're not smoking, get them to run some tests
Um interesting, as Egg stated you can have tests to show if you smoke. Again n idea what rates your talking about.
But quitting smoking is doable, and you can do t
In U.S. Insurance rates go up if you become a smoker. I'm sorry I made this my main concern when others suffer much greater consequences. This forum has been emotionally helpful. I just thought of myself and my financial instead of being grateful for the support.
Oh wow, that puts some extra pressure on doesn't it? Which could be a good thing... Cold turkey IS tough, Squeaky, but it has worked for me, you have to keep remembering your reasons for quitting and hold on to the positives Financial reasons count, goodness knows I noticed the difference in my purse - but remember all the other good things about not smoking, too - health, smell, self-esteem, appearance of skin, and on and on and on!
I wouldn't have thought that being on a forum would prove anything though - although at the same time, I know that if I did slip up and smoke, I couldn't come here and lie about it!
Good luck
Your carbon monoxide levels should prove your not smoking. Well done on 3 days quit it's a great thing your doing for yourself never mind the rates whatever they are. Just do it for yourself it's not easy but it's doable. a few weeks down the line you will wonder why you ever smoked. You have everything to gain and nothing to lose,
Our insurance rates also go up if someone is a smoker. My mortgage insurance is higher as I was smoking when I took it out, and I do not think that my few weeks of not smoking will yet cancel out that I was smoking. Spanish Eyes is right, your carbon monoxide levels will absolutely evidence whether you're smoking. All the best with your quit. Continue with it as it's the best decision you can make.
Here in Belgium the mortgage insurance companies require that you have never smoked or have quit smoking for at least two years before getting the non-smoker rates. I doubt very much an insurance company would rely on forum posts, but are more likely to ask your doctor and / or people they consider of good repute, such as those in liberal professions and / or in public office.
