I quit on Dec 31, 2011 at 9:31 PM. I cleaned up my smoking area, gave what I had left to my partner who still smokes.

I have some words of ( I hope) wisdom for you just starting out. It will not be easy. It will test you. It will also make you stronger and healthier. Do not give up. I was up to 60 cigarettes a day when I quit.

It is possible. I have been quit for 2 years 10 months and 4 days. This was not my 1st quit but it is my final quit.

I can not say that I beat the demon because he will jump out at me at any time. But, I don't give in to him. Before I could even light a cigarette the urge is gone.

I hope that you are successful in your quit. I only wish you well. It will get easier and just keep doing whatever works for you. Remember the reason you want to quit. Write those reasons down and carry them with you. Look at them often.

I was at a meeting the other night for Relay for Life ( A Cancer fundraising meeting), I was told to write down the reasons I Relay and to put it in an envelope and address it to myself. The Committee will be mailing it to me. But, I will never open it. Why? Because I know WHY I RELAY! My mind and heart are in tune with what I am doing.

I wish you all well and please feel free to PM me if you need help....ppat

Jenny that is a very good question. I think I will do some math and answer that.

With just a rough estimate of 30 days in each month and cigarette prices staying at $6.00 per pack I figured roughly $18, 432.

That is a lot of money. I would of had to quit as I could not of come up with that kind of money these past few years. Glad I quit because I wanted to....ppat

Hi Ppat, well done for quitting for good. Lovely of you to post in such an honest way. Some people have said that after time it's fine and you don't want to smoke again, think it's disgusting etc. I know it's not, it's an addiction and accepting that helps us to remain non smokers. :):)

Thank you Karri. Most people would run if they knew my life. It is all good and makes you stronger or breaks you. I just happen to refuse to break....ppat
