16 Weeks

I honestly cannot believe I'm still here and not had a cigarette for 16 whole weeks, almost four calender months!

I didn't believe I could do this, and mostly I'm still not sure I can stick to it. I don't crave now, It's more an 'I want' than 'I need' when it happens, though it's less often now.

Had a sore throat and cold about 4 weeks ago and can't shift the damn cough, very annoying but other than that health wise I feel great and now focusing on losing some weight too.

My mum has just told me she is doing Stoptober this year so that's good news, I hope she sticks to it.

And well done to Befly too, as we have the same quit date. :D:D

Well done Nicky, 16 weeks is awesome! I have never got that far, glad the craves are getting easier, "I want" is a lot easier to bat off than "I need" :D:D

Keep it up and good luck to your mum when she starts :) xx

  • Thank you Karri and Debbie.:)

Donna Thanks, you will get this far, if I can anyone can :)

  • Ncky, that's really fantastic :)

You've tackled this with such determination and dignity and I for one am certain you're going all the way to the Penthouse. You're already 1/3 of the way there- how mighty is that?

    Huge congratulations from me. :D

  • Yay! Well done Nicky!

I can't believe its 16 weeks already, it certainly does go quick.

I am exactly the same as you with the "I want one" it would just be so easy but like you say it is only fleeting glimpses and then it is forgotten.

We have just got to keep focused and not let our guard down and we will soon be at 6 months!

5 & 1/2 months is my longest quit back in 2008 but this time we will do it together and get to the penthouse!

    Bev. xx:):):)

  • Hey Hey,

just wanted to hijack your thread and join the 16 weeks army - it's today for me :)

I am glad (?) to hear that I am not the only one "wanting" one at this stage. Now I feel more normal :)

6 months is just around the corner for us!

  • Kacmins, congratulations to you too. You're one of those who quietly chug away in the background and I don't think there's any doubt that the Penthouse is well & truly in your sights now. :)

Max couldn't have put it better re the need that becomes an urge that becomes an echo and fades all the time. That's exactly what it's like. I bet that if you look back on how it was for you even as recently as a few weeks ago you'll really notice the difference to how it is now.

  • Thanks everyone and well done Kac on reaching 16 weeks too, doesn't it feel great :):)

I do prefer a want to a need as it's easier to dismiss. There are lots of things I want but can't have and it doesn't hurt me :)

  • Thanks Skiddaw and Nicky!

It's definitely better to "want" one than need it!
