Quit day planned...

Afternoon everyone...

I have been smoking for the past 20 years but seem to have taken it more seriously in the last 10 years:o

I have tried countless times to try and quit and always seem to have an excuse to go back. This time I am determined to stay off the cigs and thought I would give a forum a chance in addition to using NRT. My quit date is this Friday and I would be delighted for some much needed moral support from others trying to do the same ....:)

In return, I promise to do the same and happy to buddy up with anyone who feels they may need that extra bit of support.

Wish me luck!!

Alex

Welcome to the forum Alex, and congratulations on your decision to take the plunge again. :)

You've come to the right place as everyone here is lovely and you'll find all the advice, assistance and moral support you could possibly need. As I keep saying, there ain't anything than someone here hasn't experienced at some point and we're all in the same boat no matter what stage of quitting we're at. My advice is read, read, post and read and well be here to cheer you on your way. I shall look forward to hearing how things are going for you.

What form/s of NRT are you planning to use?

May your journey be a smooth one :)

Wow! Thanks for the support

Afternoon fellow non smokers (Yes, i already feel like one now!)

Thank you all for the positive responses. I was a bit apprehensive to join but I am so glad I did :) I guess everyone has a story and we need to share that story to feel like our situation mattered, that we matter. I have had this LOVE/HATE relationship with cigarettes for far too many years. I am fed up with it and fed up with my lack of strength to be able to stay off them forever!

Skiddaw - I am planning on using the inhalator and i have invested in one of the e-cigs. The inhalators seemed to work best for me the last time. I tried champix and had to attend a group as part of the treatment. For me that was a big bonus, it felt like you had this massive support group who you didnt want to let down...

Anyway enough about me.. Hope you are all having a fantastic day and thank you again for being so kind

welcome to the forum! Loads of great people here to help you on the way....we've all been there or are going through the same.

Try reading Allen Carr's easy way book - it will help getting the right mindset by busting the myths around smoking and quitting.

Good luck Friday, you can do it!!! One hour, one day at a time on your journey to freedom! Looking forward to following your progress

Sounds like you're all prepared and armed to the teeth Alex :D

All you have to do now is get out there, and show that Mother of a demon that you ain't to be trifled with! You can do it, mate- just kick that scrawny little wotsit where it'll really hurt. ;)

Ding dong, round one is soon to commence!
