Self-expanding activities?

Is this something to do with Deb's norks? :D

(edited to say having read the link now, I can see the sense in it. I suppose it's a variation on distraction tactics really. It was just the expression 'self-expanding activities' that made me chuckle).

They mean engaging brain in exciting "self-expanding" activities, such as puzzle-solving, games, or hobbies with one's partner, appears to reduce craving for nicotine......

Hobbies with ones partner is defo the best distraction. Thats one activity you cant do and smoke. Not unless you want to set fire to yourselves lol xx

And the Brucey bonus is, you use calories with that activity. All for loosing a few cals here and there.,:o:o

Any activity that keeps your mind off smoking is a good way to start the quit, especially for the first few days. It's better than sitting around thinking about the fact that you're quitting and wondering about how long you can hold out.

I'm assuming puzzles and other mind games are suggested as the best simply because they require the most concentration and therefore give you less opportunity to think about other things, especially smoking.

Oh goodness, I've just posted my Day 35 'Marvin the Depressed Lift'* post then read this and am now rolling around in excruciating pain due to too much laughter having read the banter between Debbie and crew....just the tonic I needed. And thank God, KK hasn't seen it yet.

Humungous apologies to the post author (sorry, sieve-brain has forgotten already) for hijacking your most worthy and thoughtful thread and I'm glad Alex embodied some sensibility on behalf of us all...
