Been a while since I posted, needed a bit of quiet time. Hope everyone is doing well.
I was going to post this morning but the day has gone a bit sideways.
Dad in hospital in a bad way, doing 100 mile trip to be with him. Came very close to having a fag when I got the call earlier, but that ain't going to help him or me so still clinging on to my quit.
Anyway, hope you are all keeping on with your quits.
Cheers
Jim

Sorry your having a tough time and I'm really sorry to hear your dad is in hospital, your right in the fact that a cig won't help the situation but sometimes when we are that stressed all rationality goes out of the window so I really admire you for not caving in.
My thoughts are with you and I really hope your dad makes a speedy recovery and feels better soon (((big hugs)))

Hi Donna, thank you so much for your support. You are so right about rationality going out the window. I panicked when I got the call and then I thought I needed a fag to calm me down. To be honest I nearly caved, just glad I didn't. Thank you for the hugs

Your very welcome mate, really glad to hear your dad is on the mend x
Apologies that I didn't reply to you all individually, it was a long day at the hospital yesterday, and this is my first first chance to sit at a PC (not keen on posting from my phone!)
So, Dad is much better now and with a bit of luck will be discharged in the next couple of days. Obviously my primary concern is with him but this episode demonstrates once more the evils of smoking.
Basically my dad has a heart condition contributed to by years of smoking, upwards of 40 a day. He quit 2 years ago, and I am very proud of him for doing it. However he has to take Warfarin for his heart condition. He is in hospital today because for some reason the Warfarin thinned his blood to a dangerous level and he started to haemorrhage and it wouldn't stop (he lost a couple of pints). To be honest it scared the hell out of him, his wife, me and all his family and friends. When I heard the news I wanted a fag. I resisted and when I look at the connection between where my Dad is today and smoking it makes me even more resolute to make the quit stick.
Good luck to all quitters today, keep on pushing through.
So relieved your dad's on the mend, it must have been a really bad time for you both!!
Hopefully, he'll be back to normal soon, and that'll be fab
And well done for getting through a massively tough time without smoking - and on top of that, realising that the fags were the cause of your dad's problem!! Loads of people would have used that as a reason to spark up so you've done yourself proud!!
