Hiya, am using patches and gum at the mo - the gum is a bit of a pain though 'cos I kep chomping my tongue  (leading to a swearing and crying fit)

Sooo I was wndering if anyone's tried the other "newer" ones - the spray, the strips and the mini-lozenges mainly!!

Can't use full lozenges 'cos they give me a raging throat but the mini ones might be OK?

Am up for anything to help me beat this, but being a bit chicken want ot make it as painless as possible :)

Thanks, Gemma x

I used the mini-lozenges for the first 3 weeks and found them a real god-send. The 1.5 mg ones did the craves a treat. They didn't give me a sore throat or dry mouth so I would certainly think it would be worth you giving them a try. :)

Thanks, that's fab!!

Was a bit worried 'cos the big ones don't agree with me at all but that's probably because they're so gritty

Hello Gemma, I've used it all :o

The spray is amazing though i don't think you can use it with patches? If you can my advice is not too, it's very very strong and works instantly, pretty much as quick as having a smoke, fab stuff but not many people like it, it gives you the hic ups but if you use it, hold it in your mouth for as long as you can and then swallow it with water this stops this, if you don't hold it in your mouth and just swallow it you will regret it :p I haven't used it this time because I get addicted to it :o

Forget the lozengers, they are like having slugs in your mouth, the gum is far too much hard work

now the mini's, i rate these however if you need to not crave don't stick it on your gum but on your tongue, don't suck it just let it sit there, it does the job fairly quickly, I do believe you can use these as a top up for the patches, they come in two strengths, 4mg and 1.5mg I use the four and bite them in half to save money :o they're cheap as well, on offer at mo in tesco's, three containers of 20 in each for £8.50 usually £13.99 I think super drug also have them on offer

Not tried the strips but have a feeling they work as quick as the spray or if not, not far behind

Hope that helps :)

Oh that's fab thanks heaps Cupster :D

Tbh i hadn't thought about whether I could use the spray with the patch, so that's a good thought!! Was just guessing that as I smoked a lot it would be OK (the patches say 10 or more a day, I smoked 30 or more :eek:)but I'll definitely scratch that idea!!

Know exactly what you mean about the lozenges, slug is a fab way of describing it!! *vom*

But it sounds like the minis are flipping fab!!And I won't bite my tongue so they're going on my shopping list :D

Hi Gemma firstly, well done, you are doing well so stay strong :D

I too used patches and mints to help me with my quit and swear I would not be at this stage today without them. I used the 24 hour patch and finally stuck to the NiQuitin mini mints. The 1.5 and 4mg minis were the same price so I bought the 4 mg and after a few days found that I was biting them in half and only using half at a time.

I also tried the gum and the lozenges but did not really get on with them. It is trial and error really use what suits you, but shop around because they can vary greatly in price. Don't forget to read the instructions on the mini's though as you end up with hic ups if you suck them too fast.

Good luck, have a good day Margie :)

Aww thanks Margie :)

Will definitely go for the minis - they sound perfect!!

Think I'll start on the 4mg 'cos of how much I smoked, then bite them or drop to the smaller ones!!

They're working for me :) and they're not too expensive to give a go, you can buy a single pack for £4.99 :) good luck x

Oooh I love a bargain!!

They sound like the business 'cos the gum doesn't really cut it (or i bought too weak a one) and it makes me bite my poor tongue :(

Thanks heaps x

That sounds fab, thankyou :D

Am still feeling better when I'm on less NRT, but it's not something I can keep up for very long, kind of a security blanket thing? Anyhow, sometimes I'm in the groove, others I'm not. But when I can I stretch out the NRT as much as poss :D

And hey, chewy won't kill me will it?

Hi Gemma,

I used the patches and inhalator...."My Boss" gave me samples of the minis to try, and they do hit the spot fairly quickly! lol

Ive been told the spray is really good too, although I never tried this. I stopped using the inhalator in the end, but it was really useful for me :)

Hi I'm using the mist and oral strips. The mist needs a special technique to use. But the oral strips are brilliant just place on your tongue and lift up to the roof of your mouth disappears within 2-3 minutes. Can use up to 15 per day but I find I only use 8-9 per day strength is 2.5mgs and the come individually wrapped so you can have them lying about everywhere. Good luck

Hiya :)

Thanks that's really good to know!!

Am still considering my options - got a lot of gum and don't want to waste it, but the minis sound good!! The spray does as well but don't want ot overdose, with being on a patch as well I mean.

Oooh thanks :D

*adds the strips to her list*

Something like that does sound really fab and it totally breaks the "do something to ease craving" thing - chewing for me at the mo!!

Just as an update, I've got the minis now, and they're really good - I'd recommend them to anyone who has tongue biting problems with the gum or who didn't get on with the full sized lozenges!!

Am using the 4mg ones (ex-human chimney right here) and they do zap my craves pretty fast although they taste flipping strong on my tongue!!

They're not bad value either, 'cos you need fewer than with gum.

Think part of my craving problem was that although I'm patched, I was on too low strength gum - hence a lot of craving.

Might give the strips a shot too, they do look petty good!!
