Ok so this has happened before when I've quit and I ignored it whenever I have gone back to smoking it goes, my gums are bleeding really bad I know this is a symptom so that's fine but in addition to that one of my front teeth has movement in it

Whenever I have gone back to fags it tightens up again?? So weird.... I don't want to have a fag but what I am basically asking is has anyone else had this or is my front tooth gonna fall out! #scaredoutofmywits.....

The addiction does stuff like that, I was terrified by the prospect of not actually smoking again, it passed and I wondered what I was worried about.

Hang in there, the subconscious will throw all sorts of reasons at you for breaking your quit but its just the addicted part of your brain wanting its fix back. As time goes by those fears and concerns etc go away, I promise.

Donna.........I had bleeding gums and it is vile......ugghhhhh the taste. :(

I used Corsodyl mouthwash, it's advertised as being for bleeding gums. It is quite strong, but it's better than smoking and I told myself that it's all part and parcel of the whole quitting process. Bleeding gums aren't nice, but if we don't persist through these things (bleeding gums, some weight gain, anxiety etc), then we could end up facing far worse things (cancer, stroke, heart attack, emphysema, chronic bronchitis).

If you do get some Corsodyl, get the minty one....the other one will blow your socks off!

My gums aren't bleeding half as much as they did and I have a 6 month check-up at the dentist in a couple of weeks so I shall be asking him about these things.

I too would recommend getting the minty corsodyl if you go for that as the plain stuff really does taste disgusting, and it lingers! You can also dilute it a bit with water if it's still too much for you. It's really good for a whole host of mouth ailments, just grim!

Donna - this happened to me about 8 months ago and to get around it I bought one of those electric toothbrushes. Far smaller head surface area which kept it off the gums compared to the traditional types of brushes. Worked for me. :)

I got an electric toothbrush a few weeks ago, oh b*gger I thought the whole point was to brush right at the top and over the edge of gums as well! whoops no wonder they are hurting......

You are meant to brush your gums, although it sounds like it would do you good to be gentle on them for a while!

Thanks for this info

I am experiencing the same thing. I have been using mouthwash, medicated toothpaste, but for nothing.

Will persevere, hopefully gums will heal.

Thanks once again

Be strong
