Trying again...

I've tried several times over the last year or so to quit, I'm only 23 with my whole life ahead of me and I know some damage has been done but I still have the opportunity to live a long and healthy life!

I've always used the 'stressed out' arguement as a reason to start smoking again or the 'one wont hurt' after a couple drinks - hopefully I'll be able to avoid my triggers.

Best of luck all!

It's always a good time for a quit. I know I wish I would have quit at 23 or sooner. Just remember that smoking doesn't actually solve anything or help releive any stress, it just relieves the craving, which comes back after about 15 min. It sounds like you have a pretty good handle on it, but you really can't smoke ever or else you'll end up serial quitting like so many of us have done over the years. Well good luck and I look forward to seeing you in the penthouse!

Hi,

Sorry but you mentioned the L word which kinda makes my blood boil

LUCK

Luck has nothing to do with winning this battle - to win you need two things above anything else:

- knowledge - understand your addiction

- desire - a true desire to break free

Once you really understand the nature of addiction, and make beating it into submission the most important thing in your life, something quite amazing happens - it starts to get easy, and just keeps on getting easier.

Immerse yourself in past posts within this forum and you will find a massive resource of stories from successful long term quitters who, in their first faltering steps, never quite believed they would succeed - but they did, and so can you, if you arm yourself with the right tools, and never doubt your own ability to win this war once and for all.
