600 days...

There was a time when I couldn't go 60 minutes without a smoke.

Then I quit. And it was tough - quite tough - for a while. But soon enough, I'd been off cigarettes for 60 DAYS. Two months. About that time I began to have hope. Maybe I'd make it after all.

But 600 days? That was WAY too much to hope for, to even contemplate. And yet, here I am.

I can't remember my last craving. Every now and then I get a tiny urge, but it's laughable and born of nostalgia, not of addition. I acknowledge it and move on with my day.

It's gratifying to know I've passed on 12,000 cigarettes. That number staggers me. Laid end to end, those cigarettes would stretch over two thirds of a MILE.

It's nice to know that I've saved nearly $3,325 as well. Don't know where that money went, but at least it wasn't up in smoke.

People...listen to me...if you're struggling - keep going. Keep fighting. Victory is just around the corner. YOU CAN DO IT. I did, and so can you.

Six Hundred unfreakingbelievable days. Yes.

Well done

Great to hear from you DGee. You are powering through this quit and I am so happy for you.

You are, as Kat says an inspiration for the newbies. I know it hasn't all been plain sailing for you and that makes it even more special. Well done from me.:)

I really smiled at that post :D Im aiming for where you are now, craving free where cigs dont plague me!!

Well done to you such an achievement :) xxxxx

Thank you everyone!

I'm glad my occasional post may inspire someone to hang in there, if it does. There were so many people who kept me going when the going was tough. That's why I come back now and then to let people know it CAN BE DONE!

I recently broke up with my GF (over a host of issues) and one thing that broke my heart was that she couldn't quit successfully. She used Chantix but wouldn't go through a few weeks of discomfort to get to the other side. Kept sneaking in "just one or two" a day which kept her hooked.

But oh, the irony. I've begun seeing someone new (yay!) and you guessed it - she's a light smoker. Grrrrr!

When I smoked it felt like NO one smoked. Now that I quit, I keep meeting people who DO smoke. <shaking head>

Anyway - thanks for the kind words.

Quitting is hard. Smoking is worse. That's my philosophy now, in six little words. :)

Hey congrats to you with new girl ! My partner has never smoked. When I was smoking 20 a day I just don't know how he put up with me ! He MADE me quit and I have done it cold turkey simply because I love him and cannot live without him :)

Congrats! It's so motivating to know that I can one day too not have those horrible cravings.

Until I make a year, I doubt I will ever feel like a true non-smoker. So I need to make it! 600 days is fantastic, but seems so far away...
