When will I not crave?!?!

Hi all

1 month 16days and 22 hours in to my quit and I am having the worst craving I've had since quitting!

I went cold turkey but tonight I have started using a nicotine free ecig as I'm scared I'm going to break and have a fag. Going out tonight for the first time since I quit and will be drinking.

Please help! I feel like crying, when does this get easier???

Gemma

I was probably a few months in before the cravings completely went away.

Best thing to do is just accept that you will be getting them. Every day that passes is another day closer to no cravings at all.

Please don't worry about it. I am just behind you in quit date and had to do the "going out" thing a couple of weeks ago. I was bricking it that after a few beers I would crumble.

You know what? I didn't. Honestly if you are determined in your quit (as I am) then I really don't think that if temptation comes your way you will grab it. You will politely say no thanks.

Just enjoy your night out, be strong and have fun ;)

Hiya Gemma :)

Hold onto that thought, you really don't want to smoke!!

And believe me, you don't.

For tonight, I'd say don't drink too much, and take something with you to suck - a lolly is best, or a straw maybe? And stick with your non-smoker friends.

You are missing nothing by not going out into the cold and wet!!

Hang in there!!

Thank u everyone! I just went out with my husband whilst he smoked and it smelt bad!

I know it sounds silly but I feel more drunk without smoking?!

I desperately want this to pass as I've been proud of myself and don't want to have to give up drinking just coz I've stopped smoking.

Thanks all, is helping speaking to people who understand.

It's the opposite for me, a fag sems to make me drunker - and your head will be a lot clearer in the morning!!

Maybe you're drinking more 'cos you're in the warm and dry not out in leper's corner?

You can do it, and you will do it :)

It's just nerves 'cos it's all new to you!!

Have a fab time!!

Hi Gemz, well done on your quit so far

Until your quit is a little more solid it might be wise to not drink too much so that you remain totally in control. In my 21 months on this forum I have seen many, many quits ruined during a night out with alcohol.

In answer to your question, after 21 months I get no cravings at all now. In fact the only time I really think about smoking is when I come on here!

Enjoy yourself but remain in control, it will be worth it in the long run. :)

I'm 15 months quit. I don't think about smoking at all, and haven't for a while.

I'm the same, I only think about it when I come on here. And all I think is that I'm glad I'm free.

Hi gem, I don't have craves anymore, they do go, but be careful of that e cig, I know someone who still uses one after two years..... You're doing so well, be proud of yourself :-)

What he said.

I know someone who lost her quit because of an e-cig.

Hate the b.loody things TBH

My dad gave up smoking over 30 years ago. After dinner a few weeks ago he got up and walked into the dining room. When he came back into the living room he was laughing. When I asked him what he was laughing at he said he had gone back into the kitchen to get his cigs!

Worried much

Very strange that Lillie. I'm the same as the other people that have posted in this thread. I don't think about it at all.

Gem

I'm on 190 days and tbh I still have the odd bad day... I know it's not technically a crave because I'm cold turkey and my body is rid completely now.

But must say there are still certain situations that make me fancy a fag...one of them is getting ready for a night out effects me more than actually being out. Mainly because everyone stinks and it smells bad and that puts me off. But getting ready, a glass of wine, fav music playing...still gets me. I haven't been out for a while though so all ok so far :)

It got me when I was getting ready to go out, the first couple of drinks and I thought I was going to cry!

Later I realised that I really wasn't missing out - stinky husband who kept going out in the cold. No thanks!! Me not smoking meant that he smoked less as well so that was a bonus!

I really feel like I've cracked it. Never thought I would go out and enjoy drinking without a fag in hand but I b.loody well did it!!! Not getting too confident tho, I know the evil one can still sneak up on me!
