Just a quick check in

Its day 38 for me, yesterday i was thinking non stop again about cigs, not sure why either, no stress, my eldest was round, we made cakes, watched a film yet those thoughts... it was just like i was still a smoker, and would think ahh time for a cig, but i haven't succumbed, i just feel annoyed with it again, i guess ive had it too easy and now its my turn for a wake up call!! hope everyone is ok ...

  • OK spooks - doing well I see. It's hard but you just need to find all the positives from not smoking - celebrate the thought of not giving in and relish the sense of control you have developed. :)

  • Cheers dicko, I really do need to find that good feeling that i seem to have lost along the way, its like i no longer actually feel happy at the fact that i have given up and stayed that way, perhaps i need to post on here a bit more as the thought of caving after saying "yippee its day blahblah" never happened, ive had a few days away from forum, albeit busy ones but even being busy never stopped me smoking. Time to get those happy good thoughts back!

So here i will say... Yippee Its day 38 and im really pleased about it!:D

  • Doing well Spooks, day 38 is great and you should be proud! Don't worry, it's just the novelty wearing off, you've quit smoking now and it's back to focussing on everything else instead. That's all, and I can think of nothing better to focus on than family and cake. Great stuff! :)

  • Thanks Hawkeye

Yes i guess your right there thats exactly what it feels, like its all old hat now, and in my case i need to stop baking cakes lol they are causing tightness of the clothes!!

Yes it's easy to get complacent about not smoking - it loses its edge after a while and just becomes - well a chore. So give yourself a pat on the back once a month with a little prezzie. Don't go for the day blah blah - just post to celebrate the fact and to hand out advice for those in a struggle.

  • Absolutely debbie, that is just how i got through yesterday! Today i don't feel so bad and looking for something to do with the young one, though got to persuade the husband first!! he gets quite rightly a little concerned about handing the wallet to the wifey!!! Mwhahahahaha:D

Now that is fab, I'm glad you're on the up hun :)

Hope you have a fab day!!

Hi Spooks Im having one of those days too. The excitement of giving up has gone and the tiredness of fighting kicks in. I know all the benefits of not smoking etc and its a mind game and all that. Common sense tells you its a mugs game to smoke and why would you if you look at it logically.

I think we just have days like this and tomorrows another day. xxx

Debbie, you don't want to go back there - seriously!!

Would much rather be where you are than where I am. It's wet and even havign a fag in the porch gets my arm soaked from holding onto the door. All while making myself smell and giving myself a stuffy nose and cough in the morning. That's the reality of smoking :/

Both of you can do it!!

  • Gemma told you that you will help someone one day as I have just visualised what you are doing and going thru and your right I don't want that. xxx

I'm really glad to have helped hun :)

And you really don't want that, it's really not all it's cracked up to be!! xxx

  • Got to admit to come back on here to find that Gemma has lost her quit was a shocker to me, and made me rethink on one side, the other thought if Gemma can lose her quit - what hope have i got, but to be strong and continue i will!

    Noooooooooo don't think like that!!

I lost my quit because I messed things up. There's a whole list of them

*Didn't use one form of NRT for the whole course

    * Did use an e-fag which is almost identical to real ones

    * Didn't spend enough time reprogramming my mind from a smoker's one to a non-smoker's mind

    * Became totally hooked on the e-fag, I used to smoke around 25 fags a day (it's nowhere near that at the mo thank goodness) and ended up using the e-fag 25+ times a day so I was basically a non-smoking smoker.

    * Did not get nicotine free

    * Quit on a whim with no planning and hardly any time to get used to the idea

It endd up messing my mind up, so instead of freeing myself from smoking it felt like I was denying myself something nice. Now I smoke again I can see that's total bull, but the revelation is a little bit late :o

It's totally different to you 'cos you're on Champix and committed to it!!

I guess it's like a complete list of how to bugger up a perfectly good quit :o

Don't look at me, I screwed up!!

Look at Kat, Sarah Lou, Sjt, Max, Hawkeye, Molly, and all the lovely people who are or who are nearly in the Penthouse!!

  • I won't Gemma it was just a shocking thought this morning... i was going to try the e cig thing but again i wouldn't have coped due to it being to close to the real thing.. glad i went the champix route as they do work..

hope your being kinder to yourself :)

Was a shock to me to be in the Co Op saying "20 Marlboro Lights please" again after so long, but it's not forever, won't let it be!!

Am glad you didn't go down the e-fag route, they're OK if you don't want to quit properly, just swap to something cheaper and safer but don't think they're a good quit aid!!

I've stopped beating myself up now thanks, just being nice to myself while I regroup!!
