hi: hi i,m new here i,m looking for wee bit... - No Smoking Day
hi
Hello Sandra
You've come to the right place - we all understand what you are feeling and can give you lots of tips to help you on your road to freedom
hi
i stopped smoking on sunday and i had done really well untill today i had to have 2 ciggys i havent any more that but i,m going to pick up tablets at 2 fromt he chemist so hopefully they will work better for me lol i really want to do this i have been so grumpy the day or so
Grumpy, irritable and so easily wound up definitely describes me in the first three days of stopping, but it does get better. If you are going on tablets I presume you are either taking Champix or Zyban and with both of those you need to smoke as normal for the first week then pick a day to stop. I can't help if you've gone CT already as I'm a wuss and have gone down the champix route but reading everyone else's threads I would say don't give in to the thought of giving in on your quit - go and brush your teeth, start a crossword, anything except giving the evil weed time to bring you down, the craves will go away if you don't give them breathing space.
thats a good idea
hi its the champix i am getting i am going pick them up at the chemist at 2 pm i will start them soon as i get them i,m no wanting to give up i want to stop smoking i will go to the shops and get puzzle books and anything that i can take my mind off them thankyou for your tip there i have never used them tablets before its allways been patches tried the e-cig but that chokes me like mad
thanks for that sandra
Hi Sandra,
have you read any of the books like Alan Carr to help you get your head round giving up.
How old were you when you started to smoke? I was a teenager, 14, so I have smoked all my adult life, its a hard habit to break.
What are your reasons? Sounding really nosy sorry but it helps to support you if we get some idea.
Trea x

Hi, Sandra and welcome!
If it's support you're after, well, you have come to the right place. My quit doesn't start until Friday, but already I've had so much support and encouragement...it really is the right place. Everyone knows exactly what you are going through. I gave up for 6 months once and I know it can be daunting. Of course, I could have throttled myself when I was so stupid as to start again.
But, I learned lessons from that episode. This time I am prepared. I am on day 8 of my Champix........they really do take away that desperation you feel for a fag. Then after a few days, you realise that the desperation has gone! You don't even really want one.....it's just the habit of smoking that is left....the addiction has actually gone!
It is also helping me to imagine nicotine as a little monster who keeps nagging at me because he wants me to carry on.......well, as far as I am concerned, he can clear off, and I tell him that out loud too, when he's making me think that I won't be able to do it.
But for me, the thing that brings it all together is this forum! Everyone here knows exactly what you are going through and will encourage and support you all the way and it's so lovely to know that you can help others as well, by giving them encouragement and support too!
hi noggin
thankyou for the warm welcome yeah it is so hard but i was ment to gett the tablets today but the chemist said it never came on the delievery so they have reordered them so should get them tomorrow i went all day monday and tuesday without but the demons where starting to show snapping at everyone and i was the same this morning so i thought bugger that so i ended up having 2 fags and then wot i,m doing for the rest off today lightning 1 up and smoking half untill i get them tablets and take it from there many thanks and i wish you very much good luck for friday well done
thanks sandra xx
Welcome aboard Sandra, don't worry about it too much. You'll get all the support you can possibly want on here. Evryone manages it differently, but for me I'd say - don't even try to think about the possibility of never smoking again, just try to take it one step at a time. Smoking is just a chain, once you figure that out you'll never want to smoke again, so just take your decision to stop smoking literally one fag at a time.
hi
thankyou neveragain
well update news i,m back on the patches today and i,m going to pick up my tablets fromt he chemist this afternoon i,m no sure if i can start the tablets when i get them or do i start them in the mornings or does it matter wot time of the day you take them ??
thankyou all for the warm welcome and all your help and advice thanks sandra
Hello again. You start taking champix in the mornings for the first three days, then morning and evening for the next 11 weeks and four days, you smoke normally until your planned stop day between days 7 and 14 of the tablets. The chemist should talk this through with you so you know exactly what you need to do There is also a thread already on the forum exclusively for Champix users, I found loads of really helpful stuff on there. Best of luck and keeping everything crossed for you
