Have quit once in last 2 years, cold turkey (lasted a year!) Then failed  Nevermind, here we go again! Please feel free to join my thread and we can help each other.
Reason for quit: Saving money! Don't want to be a slave to the cigs anymore! Don't want to smell!!!
Day 1:
On the patches, put one on first thing and doing well so far! Surprised really
Not going to get too ahead of myself yet lol. Prepared for a hard slog here argh! Been keeping myself busy today so far, washing on, tidying up! I feel so much more motivated already.
Lets do this guys!!!

Awesome work fella/lady (delete as appropriate Are you related to lg421? sorry couldn't resist! ignore me, everyone else does!)
Anyhoo, taking that step is the hardest thing, it is difficult but it really does get easier. I found it helps if you visualise that nicotine craving as some monster/bully/turtle (again, delete as appropriate) and shout at it, it helped me :). Great news and definately keep us informed, and keep up the good work, proud of ya!
Welcome to the forum and congratulations on making the choice to quit. The patches really do make a difference. If you find they itch, just wave them around for about a minute. Money was the reason for my quitting and I've saved over £4000.
Good luck with your non-smoking. If you were on 15 a day then you're saving over a fiver each day by not smoking - look at it that way and watch the money build up.
I'm finding that because I'm not smoking I'm not going to the shop to buy cigarettes so I'm not buying all of the other stuff that I used to buy with them. Eg a drink, chewing gum etc.
I'm a lady (not related to your friend hehe) and I think I might visualise a monster! The most ugly, horrible thing I can imagine.
Well done to both of you for quitting - it's really great that you come on here to help others. Thank you for the tip to stop the itching, I'll be trying it in the morning. I already feel like I have my appetite back, will be watching the scales though. Last time I put on a stone argh! I'm thinking about taking up some exercise classes (whole new change of lifestyle!)
I'm really excited about this quit for some reason, this is the most positive I have felt. I have a picture of my dream house on the kitchen wall as motivation for stopping, I can't believe how much smoking costs!!
I definitely know what you mean! Add in the magazines, newspapers and sweets - easily £8-9 a day! Crazy! Well done on your quit, I'm so glad I have found this forum, it's lovely to have the support from people who understand
CarolRose did you feel slightly squeemish starting on the patches? I've been feeling great all day up to now? Kind of like a nicotine buzz after first cig of morning. Don't really want to take it off as its doing a fab job so far !

Hiya LD
Welcome and well done!!
I used patches and for the first week or so was feeling a bit high if that makes sense? Maybe because I'd gone from around 25 a day to 0 so had more oxygen, lol. Ooh and putting them on my arm made it feel like someone had thumped me there so I put them on my ribs instead if that helps!!
That's a good theory about the patches, I never thought of it like that. Makes sense really It's definately a kind of high feeling, coming in waves! I'm feeling really positive today, I can't believe how much the patches are helping. I was a wreck yesterday. Hope its a sign of things to come and tomorrow is the same!
