Don't know how I managed

The other day, as my husband was out delivering kids to school & work, there was a knock on the door. It was a neighbour who I thought had popped round to say hi as it was my birthday but instead he had to break the news to me that one of our cats was lying at the side of the road, dead. I was utterly devastated. I had to stop traffic while I tried to pick him up & bring him back home. (I'm still crying now) He was only about a year & a half old. But we had to dig him a grave & I had to pretend I was ok as the kids had arranged a small party for my birthday. I came close...very close...to starting again but I didn't. Don't know how but I did.

Hi Sophie,

I just wanted to say I'm so sorry you've lost your cat :( I have a cat so understand how devastating that much be, i feel upset just reading your post.

You should be really proud of yourself for not smoking again in such a horrible situation. If you can get through this you can get through anything that happens in the future.

x

Oh Sophie ~ I am so very sorry. :( Pets are such a big part of the family that it is hard when something happens to them. Hugs being sent your way. And I am glad you didn't smoke - it would have made you feel even worse - Grief plus regret and guilt. Not a good combo.
