SO Hello, I'm Jara......I've been smoking about 14 yrs. I'm up to a pack and half a day(EW!) My first post but my second day not smoking. Quit cold Turkey on 6/23/2013 at around 7pm.
Today seems much harder than yesterday. My chest want a smoke, my brain goes back and forth, and my daughter is the only one with a steady, "NO Mommy!"
How long before it's not utter Hell?:mad:

I promise it does - i have now gone 40 days and it has got easier and easier" monster that nicotine monster will tell you all sorts of lies - if you listen to them and then realise this is the monster dying.
Some things to expect - or atleast I have had to deal with - they are all big fat nicotine lies!
1) Now is not the right time
2) Maybe just cut down for now
3) What about that holiday next year or wedding or friday night drink or something!
4) You are more fun as a smoker or other smokers are more fun
5) so many others - honestly every time you face it head on - it dissolves a bit more
And remember these feelings are caused by cigarettes not relieved by them - good luck!
Jara - You hang in there!!!! Believe me - you will go through all sorts of ups and downs. I was starting to feel a little crazy for a little bit - but it does get better. One thing that has helped me is to think to myself NOPE (Not One Puff Ever). Someone on this website taught me that - and it has helped! If you have even one puff - you will be sucked right back into smoking! Taking deep breathes help me too! Sunflower seeds, lollipops, cinnamon sticks, brushing my teeth, taking a walk... these are some other things that have helped me along. Oh - and this Website for sure!!! I don't think I would have made it this far without these wonderful people.
Welcome Jara! You have come to the perfect place to help you get through this. As Dannyboy mentioned, the first 4 days are probably the worst but rest assured it does get easier!!!
