Sorry for the yukki topic but has any other quitters suffered constipation? I'm wondering if its quitting or to do with patches cos it happens to me every time :o

Happens to most people but it will sort itself out. Nothing to do with the patches.

Took about a week for me to go back to normal. Try eating lots of fruit

Nicotine is a laxative so used to encourage toilet trips. Try adding some more fibre into your diet and make sure you're keeping hydrated :)

It's very common  think I avoided it by the huge amounts of chewing gum I ate, 'cos that' a laxative

Hot tip Gertie, the little boxes of sugar free sweets you can get in Aldi a) taste really great and give you something to occupy your mouth with in the early days and b) have a laxative effect and counteract that particular problem of the early days of quitting:o

It's the sorbitol, same as in Extra ;)

One of those cardboard packs of Extra a day and, um, you won't have to worry about being constipated :eek::eek:

There can be all sorts of unpleasant side effects when quitting.

Wind, constipation for some, the trots for others, spots, forgetfulness, insomnia and weird dreams are part of the list but I'm sure there are some I've forgotten.

Thankfully they do all pass as you return to being a non nicotine dependant person.

Not what you're looking for?
