Day 34 of giving up smoking, and just wanted to thank the forum for the following nuggets of info I've picked up:
1) If you're on patches, wear them on your thigh. Moving them away from arms (and not so close to your heart) can stop palpitations
2) It's o.k to be angry and upset - everyone seems to go through it.
3) Drinking lots of water and taking deep breaths really can help to stop the cravings.
4) Sometimes having a sense of humour about these things help (although that can been difficult to appreciate at times - and dependent on your circumstances!)
5) Take it one day at a time.
But most of all, it's the people that have really, really struggled but have just managed to make it to another day of not smoking. You are truely inspirational, and I hope to be posting on this forum in 11 months time to say I haven't smoked for a year!

Awwww, this is a lovely post
Well done for reaching Day 34, you're well on your way now!!
I've learnt that blabbing on and on really can be the difference between sparking up and staying on the straight and narrow.
This is the best place for anyone quitting or wanting to quit. I hope I'm here in another ten months time to join some amazing people on The Penthouse Express! x
Oooooh, I've read a bit from 'The Penthouse Express'.....can't wait to join!
Me too!! I really didn't think that I'd be one of those who can make it a whole year, but it's starting to feel more and more like a lifestyle choice every day
huge well done to you Suze, it's tough at times but this place is a real help!!
and each time, one or all of Kat,Sarah Lou and Gemma try to chat up the barman, usually succeed and get drunk and cause a riot, smashing dishes and eating all the chocolate
)
You make it sound like that's wrong somehow.... :rolleyes:
The Penthouse Express sounds like a hoot! I probably won't try to chat up the barman (unless he looks like George Clooney of course!) although I am happy to indulge in the odd G&T and glass of red......if it's on offer? Only 11 months to go!
And yes, walking! Not to be underestimated. Really does clear the mind.

It just so happens that George Clooney is assistant manager of our Penthouse bar
