Hi :)

First off I want to say this is extremely rare for me now - possibly why it's getting on my t**s so much.

But I want a fag - can't remember the last time i said it, but it's true :(

It's not as strong a crave as before, nowhere near, and am not going to have one 'cos I know it would be the first of many!! It is b.loody annoying though.

(And I'm not begging one off one of the others, I do have some pride, lol)

It's ridiculous I know but I've been feeling like this since mid morning and just wanted to let it out.

So any slapping, frying pans, advice or motivation would be really appreciated please :)

Thankyou!! xxx

Now what's all this about missus?! You get hold of that pathetic little excuse of a crave round his scrawny little neck, you tell the beastly little oik that you are now an ex-smoker, you are loving your freedom, you are loving your extra dosh and he has absolutely NO RIGHT WHATSOEVER to be sticking his oar in at this late stage! Then squeeze really hard until his eyes cross and lob him over the Tamar!!!!

Thanks Kat :)

Don't know what brought it on but it's b.loody annoying!!

Am doing my best to sherv.net/cm/emoticons/figh... but the stinky b****rd is hanging around still. I'm not in danger of caving, but it's so frustating!!

OY!!! YES, YOU!!! Get your foul stinky little butt over here!!!

Now you listen here matey, and you listen good! That there is my good friend Gemma and guess what, she gave you your marching orders a long time ago so I don't know what you think gives you the right to turn up today and try and wheedle your way back in to her life but I'm here to tell you that you can TAKE A RUNNING JUMP!!! She's got a life without you now, she doesn't smell, her skin and hair are beautiful, she gets to enjoy social occasions without the shame of having to sidle off and nip outside to meet you and then return all cold and smelly with everyone knowing she's been with you, she's got extra cash for the important things in life (like extra wine!:D), her health is improving by the minute and so is her self-confidence as she discovers how much better her life is without you and just how much you actually detracted from her life. Now, is that clear enough for you??? Meet my boot!!! (**smelly crave soars through the air, heading up the line into at least Devon and possibly into Somerset where no doubt Maxwell will boot him further on**)

I love this post Kat!

Poor Gemma :( *virtual hugs*

You are in luck, as I happen to have my frying pan with me today!

*thwaccckkkk!*

Well that seemed to injure him a bit anyway :)

Bugger off you slimey little git, she doesn't want you anymore!!!

Remember: deep breaths, keep your mind busy, remember the positives and ALWAYS focus on the Penthouse. You, me, Kat and a cocktail or 5!

Hi Gemma

Firstly I notice it is 4 months for you so a big well done:D:D

It is nearly a month since I had my rough spot and others posted that they had the same thing around month 4. At that time I received the 'fish slap' from Helsbelles so I am now going to give you the 'fish slap'. I do hope you were on the forum at the time or have read past threads and will know all about the fish slap;)

You have said you will not smoke and I believe you Gemma, you just have to hang in there a bit longer and it will pass.

lostie x

Ooh thanks, hadn't realised it was tonight actually *engages brain* but heck a 3rd of a year YAY!!

*Is slapped* Thanks!! Yes I know about the fish, lol.

Am definitely not going to smoke - even if I planned to I would need to beg one and that's not happening

Will just grind my teeth through it!! x

Lol, the Marlboro man definitely needs a flipping good whack and I'll look forward to the Penthouse :D *Watches him go flying towards Plymouth*

We'll all be in there together YAY

It's lifting now which is fab.

I guess, even though 4 months seems like ages it's still a relatively new quit, especially when I've been a smoker in one form or another for a long time (first fag at 13) and i need to remember that!!

my initial thoughts on reading your first post, I go to sleep for a couple of hours and wake to see one of the people I rely on thinking of wanting a fag!!

PHEW:) as I read on and see you have not succumbed! And on your anniversary...must have been that evil little git nicodemon trying to creep up and see if you are really as strong as you are. Thank goodness for Kat and Sarah as i wouldnt be able to hit a fly at the moment.

Sooooo pleased that you have found the strength not to have one, keep eating the wafers! hugs xx

Ooh sorry, don't worry!!

It really is rare for me to feel like that now - honestly it is!!

But he tested me and I passed - and people on here helped :D

Roll with the blow Gemma

It will happen

Might happen this week or next month or 2 years, just brace, take the position, let the blow bounce off you then carry on : D

I felt like one this morning, really felt like one, didnt last long.

I'm rolling!!

I *really* fancied one , most odd 'cos I haven't for ages, and it sort of grew from there - but thinking how the heck i'd confess it on here over-rode the thought of asking for one.

Sorry you had it too!!

Lol. Be careful not to roll too much or you'll be throwing those pink wafers back up

It's amazing how, when we harbour the thought of a cigarette, the "craving" becomes worse and worse! Here really is the best place, because it's like spitting out the thoughts so they're no longer in your head :)

And, of course, the amazing support we receive in these times of need is truly awesome!

You're right -started off this morning thinking how "nice" a fag would be (know it wouldn't and it would taste foul after all this time) and it kind of grew from there - should have posted on here earlier really 'cos it's gone now and I'm still a non-smoker :D

There will always be that warped desire to have one at times

Our fault for getting hooked...

I never wish I could get my crack fix cos I never took crack and got addicted.

Well we have made our bed-we knew smoking was addictive-we were warned and now we just have to get ourselves out of this mess.

That's true, it's weird how it burrowed into our brains :/

Never thought I'd get addicted, let alone be smoking up to 28!!

And on the whole we are doing pretty bleedin well!!:D

Gemma if I ever find out you have had a fag I will get on my bike and I will seek you out,you are not that far from me,I will suck your brain from your skull through your ear and I will peel off all your skin and feed it to the Cornish tortoises then serve the rest of you up as dinner

Must say though Max, I don't blame myself for getting hooked on nicotine.

If it's fact that it takes only one or two ciggies to get hooked, my teenage self would not have believed it. After all, it was cool and the thing to do.

I never imagined myself smoking ten a day (sometimes more) for eight years

Maybe as teenagers we should have more self restraint but I think it's pure luck if, as a 15 year old, you decide that it's ridiculous to inhale something so foul and never touch one again (I have a few of these friends).

I think that now we know so much more about smoking and the consequences, there should definately be more of us escaping from the prison (how stupid are we, really??), but I don't think I ever intended on smoking for long enough that I would eventually find it a genuine struggle to stop. My young self would think I was pathetic! Lol.

And by "don't blame", I still think this is the best decision I have come to so far. But I don't think that it was my fault for becoming addicted. I don't think that I was pathetic, but I do believe that I fell into a hellish trap.

Indeed Sarah.

What is more, this Govt are in no hurry for everyone to quit,as they get such massive revenue from the tax.I watched a video of the man himself Allen Carr on breakfast TV a few years back,he was asked if Govt where encouraging his clinics to be used nationally to help people to quit, since they had such a high success rate ( about 80%)

'NO' he replied, and told the interviewer that basically Govt were stalling at every opportunity in encouraging those same clinics. They don't want everyone to stop.Bottom line is that this is up to us to do,nobody else.

Definately. I think with the health risks shoved in our faces, and with us being "responsible adults" and all, we should be making the decision to quit more and more these days. But addiction doesn't work that way, does it?

Even at our worst moments, when we truly hate that we have to rely on this demon, we reach for our "friend" to get us through tough times, easy times, stressful times and all the other times we make excuses for.

Not anymore people :D

As for the government, why would they want us to stop? Like you say, the revenue is massive and they gain a lot from us!

It's tricky.

Tbh, I don't believe the "one or two ciggies" thing because I smoked socially from 13-16, would have a few then not touch one for weeks or months at a time and didn't crave one in between. Was I addicted? No.

Did it mean I got a taste for it and got addicted later on when I started smoking regularly? Yes.

Also think that because of that, it gave me a false sense of security so I didn't think I'd get hooked.

Never thought I'd end up smoking 20-odd a day, not for a second.

It sounds like an excuse but can definitely see where you're coming from.

There is a whole lot of positive images of smoking (or there were in 1997) on TV and so on. You don't notice it but your subconscious does and it does far more than all the "don't smoke" images and education.

If (for example) the only smokers on TV looked like Dot Cotton then it would eventually stop being "sophisticated and sexy" and be what it is - foul!!

It is odd.

I live with a smoker who genuinly doesn't crave, doesn't get that panicky feeling, doesn't need to remember to check he has cigarettes before leaving the house. None of it. If he struggled, surely he would just cave and have a cigarette? He doesn't ever seem disheartened to go without.

I have no idea how he'd react if you told him he couldn't smoke when he had a pint in his hand. Maybe there is some addiction there, but he's been doing this same thing ever since I met him at least. So something in his brain has just learnt to switch the addiction off for 85% of the time, or whatever.

He is a bit weird though! Lol

I decided that, when I quit, I wouldn't be able to just cut down or become a social smoker. I know that, for me, to smoke means that I take the lot. The craves during the day, that panicky feeling when you're told you can't have one etc. I simply couldn't manage only smoking "now and then". At least, not for long anyway.

I suppose our minds all work differently.

Stupid cigarettes ... you can just die!

They'd be in real trouble if everyne packed it in.

Remember a couple of years ago I worked out that 10 a day (which I was on then) cost around £900-1000 a year, but less than £200 was the actual fags.

Lol at "he is a bit weird"!!

Can definitely relate to that.

In a way it's like an alcoholic, we can drink as we do but if someone said "no more booze ever" while we'd be disappointed it wouldn't be a huge problem or anything 'cos we're not addicts.

It was definitely like that for me - I smoked here and there and genuinely didn't miss it in between.

NOPE is the best way. As many previous failed attempts have proven for a lot of people, it's just not worth even trying to get to a point where you can be a "one every now and then" smoker.

It's stuck in our heads now and, while we're happy that we have chosen to quit, it would be a stupid risk to try "just one" years down the line.

Exactly.

I thought after 18 months quit, that it had made me "un-addicted" which wasn't true.

Tried not to get hooked again, but by the time I noticed it was too late.

Know I've said before, but it really is rare for me to feel like that - can't remember when I did before yesterday actually, but sometimes it does sort of creep up on you.
