There it is – the commonly held milestone of three months. I put my last fag out at 7.30pm on Dec 3rd...so I’m there.
My first few days were hell; I was a proper werewolf, albeit a polite one. I’d have hours, or even a day of “I think I’ve got this, feel fine” followed by “please can someone gouge my fingernails out of the wall where I left them and pass them back?...thank you...!”
Three months in, my acetylcholine receptors should have normalised by now, and it really is true. You have to learn how to live life as a non-smoker when you become a former smoker. I’m now a few lbs heavier than I was when I quit so that’s next on the list. Oh and I’ve booked a few days in France at the end of May with the money ‘saved’, lets the kids roam free in a way they can’t this side of the channel. I’m looking forward to that. Life as a former smoker is much better.
So, for anyone reading this and thinking of quitting, it gets easier every day. Do it. Do it today, right now. And post your progress on this forum. Read the WeQuit wall, some interesting stuff there, including a post from a 13 year old which is so sad. I’ve ignored the “is Facebook satanic” debate but I’m on it. I’ve both liked and commented on the “No smoking Day” page as anything that encourages just one person to quit is to be embraced, let alone an event that could support so many.
The support here has been fantastic, thank you forum! Well done to the founder Conqueror Gladi8or too.
I’m really just doing my best, and thankfully so far that’s been good enough. I’m going to tone down the posting soon - stuff to do...don’t know what, but its better smoke-free! I’ll still hang out here every now and then though, cos I really quite like it.
Cheers all!

Thanks to all for the kind words! If I've given the wrong impression then sorry, I'm not going anywhere, I'm still posting and very much a member here, just toning it down a bit. Perhaps a few a week, not every day. There's a no smoking day coming very soon, want to be online for that for sure! Work to do!
And Conquerors, those just before and those following, I will see you in the penthouse for sure, not missing that party for the world!!
However there has been a wealth of support for newly liberated quitters from many on this forum, old and new, it really is great to witness. I'll carry on offering support if I think I can contribute from experience, and have some fun too with you all.
