I just majorly lost my temper on a trainee we have out here. This is fairly out of the ordinary for me but not totally. I cannot believe how quickly my anger built up and was unleashed on this poor fellow. A few mins later i had to take him aside and apologize.
The good news is that i didn't consider smoking afterwards or even really think about smoking, but iam gonna go ahead and blame the quit on this one

Hi again Chuurles, I hope you're still doing ok and re your temper - don't worry too much!
I worried so much that my temper would get the better of me when I quit my tempers never been the best, (I look after a disabled dad, poorly mum and my grandma who has just had to go into a home, and work a full time job :D) and though its surfaced a time or two it's been better than when I smoked!
If you apologise it will normally be ok. People are generally really understanding and they'll know you can't help it.
thanks for the advice Molly. To be fair the guy deserved to be yelled at, i just went alittle overboard lol. He sometimes has an attitude problem, i asked him to do something 3 times and he kept questioning me and kept talking back. That's not how it works out here. I spent a year as a trainee and i would drop anything and be at anyone's beck and call. You have to pay your dues in this job!
ah well iam usually pretty mellow and the nicotine must be almost out of my body now so hopefully that was a one off event!
Molly I am feeling great now! Ill admit there was a slight drop in euphoria when i woke up this morning but i expected that was coming! Also after my blow up i calmed down pretty quick
Re family.. My mother is a very severe alcoholic, which has torn my family apart and is one of the reason i started smoking in the first place. She cant beat her addiction but I am determined to beat mine and it helps to motivate me!
she says addiction is a disease, i know for me alteast that it was self induced!
As far as the temper goes, like you say, maybe you were just saying what you meant to say all this time but stopping smoking just brought it out a bit sooner ....and maybe a little more abruptly!
I manage a few people and to be honest things happen that really ... REALLY get my goat! (hope you know that saying?)
In times gone by I would walk away, fume, and smoke a fag.....bottle it up! After stopping smoking I am starting to realize that that wasn't a very good management approach!
They were in the wrong and I should have sorted it head on!
I am doing that now, trying very hard not to do it in a hard way, not my style, but showing them ... gently .... the "error of their ways!"
Anyway mucker,
Keep going, it's great to hear from you all that way away on the ship.
wonders of modern science eh .... pff.... next thing you know they'll be putting a man on the moon!!
The good news is that once you get past this initial GRRRR couple of weeks, your temper is likely to be much better, and you much calmer - contrary to what you might expect.
I used to think my kids could be really aggravating, and so it helped me to run into the back garden and smoke. As my quit progressed it was a revelation to me that they were just fine** - it was my need for a nicotene fix that made me intolerant of them, not the other way round. The smoking didn't help, it made the whole thing worse.
(**Obviously not always, sometimes they are, in fact, aggravating!!).
Keep going. You're doing great to keep going in such a stressful job and not give in to the demons. One day at a time!
