Melatonin: I just read that melatonin helps... - No Smoking Day
Melatonin
I just read that melatonin helps with nicotine withdrawals. Wish I'd known that cos I have some just kicking around in a drawer.
I didn't know that but then again I dont know what melatonin is:confused:
Melatonin is a natural hormone your body produces when it gets dark and it helps you sleep. I used to take the pills when I couldn't sleep. Good for jet lag because it helps to adjust your body clock. If I'd known they worked for nicotine withdrawals I would have taken them.

You will need them then when you go to New Zealand in the new year
Glad to know I am not the only one!

Thanks for your post Una. I am on day 71 of no smoking and have been feeling really depressed as I smoked for 38 years, now i have began to think what's the point of giving up now, it may be too late. But I am so glad I have had this experience of being smoke free and my family is so pleased. But I feel very down since I quit , since then I've had a lot of colds, mouth sores and ulcers and gum problems, my dentist is doing his best to preserve what teeth are have left! your post really encouraged me, thank you. Tubbsy.
I got the Melatonin when I lived in Denver but I was taking it long before the Internet got going. I also took it with HRT without any problems. Must admit apart from that I have never been on medication until I stopped smoking. Yes the anxiety was physical rather than emotional and I am now on half of the beta blockers without any anxiety.
I think everyone one should check out all medication thoroughly before taking anything and especially for interaction. It's great that we can all do that easily on the net.
Meant to say, I thought anxiety was emotional. I couldn't understand why I had it when I wasn't worried about anything. I know different now
Now there's a thought. Eat 2 kiwi fruit before bedtime and sleep like a log. I'm not that keen on them either.
I love kiwis! I chop up two in greek yoghurt with pumpkin seeds for breakfast.
Could explain why I need a doze mid morning!
I just looked it up. 4 foods to make you sleep. Kiwi, apples, walnuts and milk. I could have that every night if it worked and perhaps put a brandy in the milk
You are making me laugh Una. One of my favourite lunches (just eaten it) is sliced cheese and apples on crackers. Could explain the afternoon dozes as well!
I never sleep during the day. The only exception was the first few weeks when I stopped smoking.

Same ere una. Iv had no worries as such.. I just get physical side of anxity. But with me the do a font no if its my heart condition or anxity. Untill I see my cardio in feb.
I don't seem to be getting any anxiety at the moment. Maybe it's gone. I still put the app on every night. I'm finding I don't have negative thoughts now.
That's me off the beta blockers and the blood pressure is normal. No anxiety anymore. It must be all the vitamins I'm taking.
