Sian I had that too, please hang in there - I felt it was the fumes from the crap I had put in my lungs over 20 years, basically cause I was not masking it from a smoke I was able to taste, smell the tarry smell from the crap in my lungs...

It get's less but I'll be honest I have the odd day where a funny taste or smell from within takes me by surprise

I just think of it as my body doing what it was meant to do and heal me...

Quitting seems to be like a visit from Bad Santa, who has left a random selection of unpleasant and disturbing presents for us to "enjoy".

Well done Sian on day 22, hope it's better tomorrow.

Hi Sian

Yes, I experienced that too. I would smell and taste cigarettes often in the early days of quitting. I think it was a combination of my body purging itself of the toxins and I could smell and taste those toxins, and my brain playing tricks on me to get me smoking again.

Biggrin,

I look on all the symptoms as a sign of healing. It would be very disconcerting if I quit and nothing at all happened after putting that muck in my lungs for 20 years.

Every symptom is a little present telling you your body knows something is changed and is trying to reconcile it... It's a positive. :D

Thank you, I was thinking I'd gone mad:confused:

I feel really bunged up today and like I did when I smoked but like your saying it prob is all the toxins and crap trying to finally leave my system,

I now remember how u felt when I smoked and I not going back there

So hoping this will pass soon

Keep going everybody quitting its well worth it

I had a similarly weird week 3 then on or around day 30 it all just seemed to fall into place; hopefully this will be the case for you but you're not going mad as you've read already. I still get the odd cigarette taste, just for a second and rarely but it means nothing now, probably my imagination more than anything else; I don't miss it after four months, I can tell you that much :D

Not what you're looking for?
