Right. Thats that pesky Guy Fawkes dealt with for another year.....I suppose I ought to throw my pumpkin out too, but he's still giving me a shrivelled up grin from the dresser and I like him.

Thanks for all the lovely comments everyone. Mimi....of course.....i'll have the cushions plumped up nice and cosy for you. Any other requests and just let me know. I fully intend to get Haze and Aitch lining things up for me when I get there. :)

Its amazing to be posting in the six month room. I remember peeping into it as a newbie and thinking the posters here were super heroes. Well what d'ya know. I must be a super hero too. ;) I'm very very very happy.

conratulations

Hello Dippy conratulations well done on your 6 months nicotine free. I don't know about you but to date I haven't had any real craving to smoke. I've thought about it but not craved a smoke. I don't know if I have just been fortunate or what, perhaps the diagnosis of a life threating illness brought me to my senses. I'm just happy to accept being an ex-smoker and try not to ****yse how that came about.

How is that new bike of yours have you been doing much cycling?

I bought a new bike myself Ridgeback World Voyage. I say "I bought" which isn't strictly true I used £400 which was given to me as a gift on the occassion of my retirement in April 2011 with the instruction to buy a new bike. So I eventually got round to it some 17 months later.

So far so good apart from one puncture correction two punctures one on the first day I rode it home from the shop!!

Look after yourself and I'll try and do the same

Michael. Thankyou.....and yes......I too am one of the fortunate ones. No cravings here either. In fact....I notice the whole thing is becoming curiouser and curiouser. If I find myself near to a smoker......I see the smoke being sucked up back into their mouth and nostrils and just can hardly believe that I ever used to do that. It now just looks.....and smells......like the hideously unnatural self-poison that it is. I find myself edging as tactfully as possible away from them......I have to try VERY hard not to do that annoying ex-smoker thing and waft my arms at them yelling eurghhhhhhh. :)

So pleased you got a new bike. I'm still LOVING mine and she's as shiny as ever since I keep her in the hall....all safe and warm and loved. I still go everywhere on my bike....but that will probably have to change soon.....as I'm really not going to cycle in very cold or icy conditions. Not to worry though. Christmas is coming and the moment that is over I always start getting excited for spring. Lovely spring....when the buds and the birds and the bikes all come back out to play again. Take care. Enjoy.

Love Lizzie

Well done Dippy! You are my role model. I want to feel like you. Unfortunately I don't always feel so "free" as you do, so I don't post a lot so as not to be negative.

I read on the forum all the time though.

Slightly bedraggled toucan has limped into the six months space.

Hi Toucan. It would be good if you would post on here when you are feeling negative (because it would make me feel better!!! - no, only joking:D) I find the negative stuff and cries of despair helpful because they remind me not to be complacent (when things are going well for me). Also, when someone comes on in a bad state, and then later on, or the next day, they are feeling more positive, it helps me to remember that I can get through the bad patches too (not so easy to remember when your in one, as I'm sure you know only too well).

Well done on getting to 6 months.

nsd_user663_51469 profile image

Thanks Biggrin. Very much appreciated.

Before giving up smoking, I had tonsils out when I was five, and gave birth twice in hospital, That was it. Hadn't been to the doctor for 20 or so years.

I went into hospital last Sunday morning in extreme pain and only got out after 7 days. Cellulitus. What the hell is going on? Extreme doses of antibiotics via IV drip and painkillers. They could find no point of entry for the infection, like a scratch or a a bite, so who knows. I have now come home with a bag of pills and a walking stick. Me! The rock chick Nanny!

Going to hell in a handcart I am. Feel very emotional and vunerable. Haven't smoked though. Thank goodness I had given up before I went into hospital.

I have a theory about the sadness some of us experience. It helps me to recognise why. As we all know well, the most blissfull moment for a smoker is the lighting up. The sheer happiness and satisfaction. Now I very well know that it is because of addiction, and I have no wish to smoke. BUT, after smoking for 48 years, and feeling that happy for 25 times a day, you cannot tell me that it doesn't alter your personna. I am not being negative about this. I think it helps to recognise our feelings.

I am a very upbeat person normally, but feeling weird about it all at the moment. (Then there's the pills!) No hope!

I'll be back.

Toucan. I'm so fond of you. So very very very fond of you.....and I've always said, to anyone who would listen, that bedraggled Toucan's are my ABSOLUTE favourite Toucans. Especially the limping ones. You dont need to come on hear banging drums and dancing in clogs for me to recognize that you are a full of the joys of life kinda gal. If you dont feel it at the minute.......its only a matter of time till you do. You limp all you like my little bedraggled friend. It wont be long x

I LOVE this :)

Love it.

Keats, Shelley, Owen, Wordsworth etc......well, they had a good stab at it. I'll give 'em that.....but.....they just didnt have the same sense of rhythm, rhyme and metre as is displayed, with such flowing ease, in this.....my very own Limerick. I especially like the 'young lassie' part. When I write this all out in big bubble writing to stick on the fridge.....i'll make sure my sweetie, cutie little grandson colours that bit in with his biggest, shiniest fluorescent pens :)

Thank you peeps. You are all too, too kind. I really am doing my best, but I don't make a good patient.

Hospital stressed I should leave my leg uncovered to heal when they sent me home on Saturday.

I have just been to my GP's surgery, who are horrified to see me walking about with it uncovered. I am now swathed in bandages from toe to knee.

Hey ho!
