I am 37 now and have smoked since I was about 15. The only time I have succeeded stopping is when I stopped for 9 months or so when I was around 20 and then started again (drinking). I have had enough now and have decided that this really is the time for me to stop. The cost now is outrageous and of course the damage I have done to myself over all that time must be huge.
I know I have been a bit snappy with my wife and kids today but I am sure they know (as I have explained) that it will pass and of course worth it in the end.
24 hours down and counting!

Welcome Paul, well done on deciding to quit. This is the best decision you can make for your health ,purse, self esteem and many more reasons. Good luck with your quit and just shout if you need any advice or support there is always someone here who will help. The early days are the hardest but it gets easier and easier.
You know I was thinking that a lot must give up early because of the lack of people who really seem to care IRL. I have been here for a few hours and already people seem interested, I didn't expect this at all.
Paul, this forum is the key to my success. I know that as soon as I felt people were routeing for me and supporting me AND going through the same feelings as me, it made it a whole lot easier. Because of that, I now make sure that I do the same for newbies. I have been where you are Paul and I know how it feels, I want you to know that it gets easieryou wont feel like you do now for long and this forum will help you in your quit.
