Just joined a local NHS Stop Smoking group and set my quit day....been prescribed 24 hour patches and lozenges for first 2 weeks....been on 10 to 15 cigarettes a day for more than 20 years, and been recommended to join this forum as a help with sharing experiences and encouragement.
next Monday is my quit day!: Just joined a... - No Smoking Day
next Monday is my quit day!
Noswaith dda cymro
Welcome to the forum and good luck for Monday.
This forum is fabulous, full of people who know what you are going through and full of people who have proved that you can escape the evil weed.
Don't be a stranger, it is due to this forum that I am approaching 9 months quit after smoking for 31 years.
Pob lwc.
Diolch yn fawr Capitan....I am ashamed to say that I do not speak Welsh, but thanks for your good wishes...will post on my progress next week.
I look forward to following your progress
It is achievable, you just have to believe, particularly when strong craves hit, that it really does get better.
There were times, even after a few months, that I thought I would never break free, but at nearly 9 months I don't get any cravings anymore and I no longer want to smoke.
Don't think you are giving something up, think of it as gaining something new - freedom and improving health.
Just think NOPE - Not One Puff Ever.
Congrats Cymro i hope we can keep the cigarettes away. I was dumb because it's so expensive and so bad for the health.
Just 7 hours now....must say I am nervous, apprehensive, but determined.....biggest concern is a stressful day at work tomorrow...just hoping I get through.
Hi Cymro
Good luck for tomorrow.. I remember it like it was yesterday.. I actually cried myself to sleep the night before but in the morning, when I struggle most, I just dealt with in minutes rather than the big picture which was too scary.. As time went on I felt more determined and felt I couldnt let the time that had lapsed be for nothing.. Hope this helps with ur anxieties as u will get through it and if I'm honest it has been nowhere near as bad as I anticipated... Look forward to hearing how ur gettin on :)
Hi Karyn,
Thanks for your support....really feel this forum together with the group sessions I am attending will be a massive help. Can't believe this feeling at the moment...almost fear...when the sessions end in a few weeks Ill be relying on peeps like you
Hey cymro, all the best and don't be afraid, nothing bad is going to happen to you, only good things.
You can do it!
Hey Cymro,
All the very best in your quit tomorrow. Baby steps and I'm sure you'll do fine.

Hi Cymro - hope tomorrow goes well! I spent hours and hours on here during the early days/weeks of my quit, and it REALLY helps. Read, read, read ... then read some more. And post WHENEVER you need to vent. There's always someone here who's been where you are and knows how you feel.
Good luck!
Sue

Thanks guys...3 hours to go...just 2 left in the pack.
Nutmeg/Fi...loved your 'I'm sorry' post...very apt....related to that massively...thanks....hope you are getting there.
Thanks, Sue...much appreciated.
Just finishing work for the day....coped reasonably well with the usual stressful situations I get involved in....haven't smoked since 11pm last night...had a couple of cravings....did a lozenge each time...not sure they worked or it was just me pushing through...thanks for everyone's encouragement...
Thanks, Fi...will post on Day 2 if...sorry I mean WHEN I get past tonight
Something to take your mind off cigs, post your favourite song on Magics Music Thread

You got me there....bit new to this forum.....but I'm sure I'll catch on!!
Hey hey cymro! 1 day down. Sorted. Just proves you can do it. Keep taking it in small steps.
Your doing an amazing thing.
Woooooooohooooooooo!!!!!
Thanks Magic...yep...just one more major hurdle in a couple of hours before bed....letting the dog out the back garden when I usually stroll around out there having my last smoke of the day.....suppose I need to replace that with a lozenge....or some high cocoa choc I've stored in the fridge.....I'm sure it won't be problem...here's looking forward to Day 2...must say this forum is helping enormously...will recommend to other group therapy members on Wednesday when hopefully I am still clean.
first day is the worst - but on day 18 now and it is a little easier - i still think i used to have a fag now, but i take a deep clean breath instead and think there didnt NEED one, glad to say its my choice not to now, and love the Not One Puff Ever - classic and one ill keep in my head for emergencies,
Good luck for day 2!
Thanks Sassy.....couldn't sleep last night just thinking about this....hopefully the feel good factor will help me tonight.
Hi Cymro, welcome to the site.
Your tagline says it all. You really want to do this! And you can. One day at a time.
Day three tomorrow. How cool is THAT?

Thanks, H....day 3 starts 11pm tomorrow.....my first big milestone is to get to my group session on Wednesday where my carbon monoxide reading should be near to zero!!!
