Just a quick one to say thanks to all on the board here. Im on day 4 of stoptober, going cold turkey after numerous attempts with patches. time to do it for the kids. my 5 year old boy asked me a couple of weeks ago if he could " have fags like me when he was 6 or 7 ! bit of a reality check so stoptober came along at the right time.
just a quick thanyou to everyone here, i was having bad cravings on day 2 and came across this messageboard. its good to know im not the only one and the tips and words of encouragement you send each other have been a great help.
Good luck everyone, i know im not going to have a smoke today, and tomorrow will be easier !

Thanks for the advise lads. will order the book now from Amazon, day 5 for me big test of the weekend coming up.
this giving up smoking is a bit like the last day of the season, a rollercoaster of emotions !
at one stage i didnt think we would get out of the ground alive but it was a big love in after, all the city fans were applauding us and shaking our hands on the way to town.
Great for your kids not to have to see you smoking again. I hit that point with the birth of my second grand-child recently, the main thing however was that I wanted to stop for me as I had totally had enough of it.
Keep at it a day at a time and post on here both in good and bad times. You'll always find someone's ear.
