Yep, it was an excellent read. I found that Ivings had a good understanding of the psychological aspects of giving up, or at least she explained them a lot more clearly than Carr, in my humble opinion. Even though I was already a few months into my quit when I read her book, it resonated with a lot of the experiences and thought processes I had been through, especially in the early days.

To me, giving up smoking is a combination of logic (Carr-style), and emotions (Ivings-style). I think Carr and Ivings each have their merits and limitations, so best to read both if you can and cherry-pick the parts that you feel help you the most.

Thanks Alex, I think it was a post of yours where I seen it recommended! I've read the Allen Carr book so I'll read this now and hopefully the combination will help :)

There's also another one which I thought was very good, called "How to Stop Smoking and Stay Stopped for Good" by Gillian Riley. It's for sale on Amazon and has excellent reviews. I think that the two books written by female authors have a good in-depth view about the feelings associated with smoking and giving up smoking. Sadly, I can't remember all about who wrote exactly what, but I do remember I enjoyed and related to both of them.
