Newbie just starting day 2 ..

Hi All !

I'm new here and I was hoping to use this forum from day one but had a problem with the activation email. Thanks to Moderator 3 for sorting that out ;-)

Reading everybodies posts on this forum has been a great help and has inspired me to quit for good. I was a non-smoker for eight years and lapsed last summer. Smoking is making me unhappy, messing up my life and needs to go ..

Day one wasn't as bad as I thought it would be. Theres a lot to be said for embarking on this with a good state of mind. If you haven't read the Alan Carr book yet and are struggling with your quit I would recommend it. Yes, I have had cravings but they have been manageable so far. What worries me most is that my wife is still smoking and even though she's out on the porch I can still smell it through the house.

I'm now into day two and physically it feels like someone has removed my brain and replaced it with cotton wool. I'm not sure why that would be. Deep breathing seems to help with the occasional craving. Going for a run tonight to keep myself occupied. I've signed up for a half marathon in October as a push / incentive to help me do this properly.

I will keep you all posted ..

Paul.

Thanks for the welcome both !

Lunchtime now and still more or less OK. I got a whole bunch of healthy snacks in for the quit like pumpkin seeds, goji berries and stuff. I've had to lock them away in my draw before I demolish the lot.

Substituting snacking with lots of water this afternoon ;-)

Lots on this afternoon so it should keep me distracted for a good while.
