I was at the pub last night, and...

Many of you have already had to deal with smokers lighting up right in front of you (and some of you even LIVE with smokers).

My experience has been different - I live alone, and while all my neighbors do smoke, I can shut the windows and ignore them pretty easily. So I don't have much experience yet being in the company of smokers.

But last night, I was at a pub with a group of friends, and we were outside on the patio around a fire, and a fellow just two people away from me took out a cigarette and an ashtray (as was his right), and he lit up and began puffing away.

At first, I was in shock and slightly panicked - how could he? Doesn't he realize I'm trying to quit??? And, OMG I'm not going to be able to stand this, and I'll crack, and I'll start smoking, and I'll lose my job, and I'll become homeless, and I'll end up in the shelter (if I'm lucky) or on the street (if I'm not) and I'll be a bum and I will still want to smoke.... and so on.

Then a few moments passed, and I got involved in a conversation with another person. It wasn't until MUCH LATER that I realized I forgot all about this smoker, and that the odds are pretty good I won't become homeless after all.

But it was close for a little while! :D

Hahahahahahahahahahaha ! :D

Gave me a proper laugh that did!

There's another trigger point squared up to and faced down

One by one over the space of 12 months you will come across all your trigger points and defeat them.

Once you have done that, very little in the future will surprise you with a trigger point and you'll be on your way to total freedom.

I bet you felt good last night, particularily as you could go home and sleep in your own bed at the end of it! :D

You're absolutely right about that. I love defeating trigger points now. It's almost like being at a carnival and playing the target shooting game - bring on the little duckies and let me shoot 'em away!

And yes, I love my own bed! :)

Ah, a Masterclass in dealing with triggers, well done

A month, whether 4wks or actual calendar month, is still quite early in respect of changing things around. Don't get me wrong...your quit period is to be lauded irrespective of length of time. However many of us mention that an orbit around the sun sees us dealing with all the usual yearly activities and their attendant potential triggers - birthdays, holidays/vacation, Xmas, New Year, anniversaries, etc.

Keep on keepin' on in the manner you have ably shown above and you'll have it cracked :)

Not what you're looking for?
