First week

Well that's my first week under my belt...feels as though it's gone quick but yet has been a long week if that makes sense :)

I was at work yesterday and around smokers and i got my first whiff of a smoker and how he smelt... I cringe to think that i used to smell like that :(

Feeling quietly confident for next week..i have got it firmly in the front of my mind that it's the first fag that does the damage and i will be back on that awful merry-go-round again so will do my very best to avoid it.

  • Congratulations! Getting through Week One is huge!

Isn't it amazing when we realize how much we stink when we smoke? Problem was we never knew it - we couldn't smell it.

Now you're on to Week Two, and while there may be some rough patches, it gets a little easier every day. Just quit for one day at a time, and pretty soon you'll have several weeks under your belt.

  • PONG dont they just. and yes you are right to stay away from that first one. dont have 1 and you wont have another. easy peasy. save enegy and just say NO to the first puff. Do that every day and you will have cracked it.

  • that is the absolute thing that shocked me the most was how awful smokers smelt and how awful i must have smelt all those years

and there was me thinking i was a secret smoker and a bit of chewing gum and a wetwipe for my smelly fingers did the trick and no one was any the wiser omg how wrong i was obviously people either had no sense of smell or they were to nice to say anything to me

i hate the smell of anything smoke related now gone off smelly smoker smell makes me heave smoke from someone smoking near me turns my stomach and the smoking shelter at work which you have to walk past to get to your car has a deep ahstray smell to it

ewwww am real glad it all does smell horrible to me as it keeps me strong

well done on your first week if you can crack the first week you can do anything

  • I keep a jar on my windowsill full of dimps tobacco and water, in the early days of my quit i would gently open the lid and my god the stench was vile. i disd this to brainwash myself of the fantasy of smoking being this cool harmless not very smelly thing to do, into the rancid vileness of it one wiff of that and you wonder why would anyone want to do it, it put me off many a crave i can tell you.

  • There was a time, mash, when I would have dried that out and smoked it if I had run out of tobacco .. I know, disgusting isn't it.

Well done, midmale, on reaching week 2 :)

I'm embarrassed to say there was a time when I would steal butts from public ashtrays and smoke them. I would feel so excited when I found one that was almost full-length. I would actually linger in the ashtray's presence (usually near an entryway) until there was no one around, then walk over to the ashtray, and in one fell swoop, reach down and pull 1-3 butts from the sand.

My Gawd what I did to smoke. Memories like that make me even happier to have quit again.
