Great stuff Pat :D

Yep, you're in the right place, just starting week 3!

I don't know how many and how long you smoked for, but I bet it was a good long while, so that habit isn't going to be broken in a couple of weeks.

A lot of people found it took 6 months or more before they started to settle down.

I was reading the November quitters social group thread this morning and most of them have had craves recently due to a variety of reasons.

They are just standing firm and saying NOPE!

It makes interesting and enlightening reading, here's the link...

Happy Easter to you and yours

Hi Pat

Interesting question! For me, after 40 years of being a smoker, I found that I had to create a whole new picture of what Normal looked like. The good news is that my new normal is so much better than the old one, and I will never trade it in. :)

No more constant distractions thinking about when I can have my next fag. No more getting twitchy and withdrawn when I can't smoke for a few hours. No more feeling guilty and pathetic when I see the health problems that I have inflicted on myself.

So how bad can that be? Just keep on quitting and you will see those negatives turn into positives in no time at all. :)

Hey :) we're one day apart in our quit :D I also want to feel "normal " again , but i think Mrs T is right . We won't go back to the old "normal ", but I can see hints of a new normal . Like , not starving myself is the new normal . I have no idea how I even survived on such little amount of food....

Opening my window and "smelling the weather " every morning.

I think i might add exercising to my normal soon. What's stopping me now? still too brainwashed (why exercise if i don't get to smoke after ?) i think it's too soon to push myself into anything i don't want to do.

we're still young and weak , we need feeding and lots of sleep :p

Before we know it we'll be feeling great !

Morning guys , thanx for your replys, today i can say im not having any major craves , had a few yesterday :( but ... i think that was because i was out doin food shoppin in Asda with my daughter and grandson , and everyone shops as if its the last day on the earth at holiday times hehe ... i hate shopping anyways :) .

Today my mouth is really really sore , it hurts too eat and drink, still got this cough and still waking me up every night , so im feeling tired tearful and generally out of sorts like whats the point ! I know i wont quit my quit , i couldnt go through this crap again , lol, hopefully things will get better soon , Hope you are all doing great out there :) Pat xx

Hiya scousemum. the sore mouth and generally feeling ruff seems to be part of the deal of quitting ,i had it and quite a few more have too. apparently its the body healing. i found it a great excuse to take time out and practise some tlc, something smokers always did with cigarettes cos we were silly billies. it does get better and pretty soon you'll be feeling loads better.

sticke with it one day at atime.

Mashx

Hi Pat

Is this about bleeding gums, loose teeth or grinding? All can be part of the wonderful quitting experience! A couple of weeks ago, I thought that one of my teeth must be absolutely rotten because of the terrible toothache I developed. I went to my dentist, and it turns out that there is no decay. I have been clenching my teeth in my sleep, and damaged a nerve in my jaw! I now have to sleep with a mouth guard to protect it! My dentist told me he gets lots of visits from people in the first few months of their quits - it just seems to be one of those things.

Oh awesome !! you're really strong !!:D I haven't been around smokers since my quit (if i don't count the 3 people who smoke constantly while skyping with me, heartless people really :p ), i don't know what would feel the worst: would the craving be anihilated by the horrible smell , or would i have to run away ? i still remember the throat burning feeling of bars full of smoke (i'm old), and wonder how i even survived lol...anyway good for you , you win :D
