Hi everyone, I'm just starting my quit today. I've been smoking for about 16 years and its really time to stop for good this time. I've made so many attempts, some partially successful and have quit for about 6 months before.

I'm very resolved this time as I know all the benefits I can gain and how much things are better without cigarettes.

Hopefully posting on here will help my progress, I've always found the first few days the most difficult, especially in the mornings.

Good luck to everyone else stopping I think its one of the best things you can do.

Jimmy, welcome to the site. And good decision!!

If you've made it to six months before you know that it can be done - absolutely no reason why you can't go that far again and then keep on going. It's only stupidity and false memories that make us light up after a length of quit like that. This time as long as you stick to the rule of NOPE (Not One Puff Ever) you'll be fine!

And we're all here to keep you going when it gets tough along the way.

Thanks everyone, I'm confident that I can do it. I had a slip yesterday, which isn't a great start. I didn't remove all cigarettes from the house which was a mistake and with the desire to smoke driving me crazy and cigarettes to hand this caused the problem.

Anyway I removed it all from my house now so today should be a little easier.

I've noticed from experience that these first few days are very very difficult for me then it becomes much easier.
