I smoked...

I smoked the other night. I've been feeling increasingly depressed and getting cravings. Something wound me up after I'd had a couple of drinks and I had the conversation with myself which I've had a few times before... you can imagine what that one is!!! Only this time the outcome was different. I did go to the shop and bought 10 fags - £3.95!!!!! Shocking!

I will be saying goodbye to this room and going back (day 2 now). I can't relate to being on day 2 of the quit after coming this far, I feel nothing like I did on day 2 - in fact I feel just the same as I did before I smoked - BUT I want to discipline myself that 1 just can't have the odd fag when having a drink. This is what happened before - I went from quitter to social smoker to full time smoker and I don't plan to do it again so for this reason I will be leaving this room :( In my heart 12/09/2011 will always be my quit date but that is just personal to me so for now so long SSS - see you in the Penthouse:)

so sorry to hear that, must admit though I also quit in September and am finding it more difficult now than ever. Seem to get a lot more cravings than before, and it would be the easiest thing in the world to start again so I can understand your glitch. Good luck with the new quit

Thanks Gary and Claire. I've no intention of going back to smoking (shudder!) so going to try and deal with the low mood issues which I think were leading to cravings.

I'm in limbo on here as I can't relate to (day 4 now) the feelings of someone just starting out so not much point posting in here although I'll still try to offer all the support I can to others.

Gary, I appreciate what you're saying about it being a blip. Once I've got a few more smoke free weeks under my belt I will probably be more inclined to see it this way.:)

Hey Jo,

I'm in limbo on here as I can't relate to (day 4 now) the feelings of someone just starting out so not much point posting in here although I'll still try to offer all the support I can to others.

I know what you mean about limboland on here when you send yourself back to day 1. Not sure it did me much good quite honestly, just couldn't call 3 weeks smoking a 'blip' :o. But looking back over the past four months I have had round about 12 weeks not smoking so it is an improvement on the four months before, so a good improvement there. I can't be perfect. But giving myself some kudos for the success I have had so far, and hope you are too Jo. If it's any consolation I am only closing up day1 tonight, so you are 3 days ahead of me :D

Sure we will crack this anyway. We are WOMEN and therefore capable of many things .

TC,

Zoe xxxx

So sorry to hear about this, Jo - I know that you have been struggling for a while.

I think it's great that you haven't thrown in the towel, though. Hopefully, this small lapse will end up reinforcing your commitment to remaining a non smoker.

Don't angst about what room you belong in, and please don't beat yourself up over this. The single most important thing is that you don't go back to smoking - you know that's not the answer to anything.

Mrs T - thanks for your post. I won't go back to smoking. Although I did buy a pack of 10 I didn't smoke them all - I drowned them the next day;)

Zoe - You've quit more than you've smoked these last months so yes I know where you're coming from. It'll soon pass; time seems to fly these days - must be my age lol but at least that means we'll be back with our SSS buddies before long. Anyway I'll be glad of your company in month 1, hopefully we can keep each other on the straight and narrow :)

Not what you're looking for?
